~ Holding Out For a Hero ~
The unicorn went towards the Canterlot's castle. He went back to Manehattan where the diplomat had spent his time in his embassy and his first day of work as an official ambassador, on his own chariot pulled by his bodyguard, Sir Bastion. Of course, it was not an ordinary chariot: made with the lightech Corps' Pegasus technology, it was lighter than those of Celestia and needed only one Pegasus, and it was Bastion which took the role. Even if, he had a military formation, Bastion was not destined to be a carthorse- I means "cartpegasus".
Are you alright, Sir Bastion ?
Of course Your Excellency, this chariot is very light, I have just get used myself ^^. But you know, Excellency, I was habituated to leads chariot with a teammate when I was still under the command of Princess Celestia.
I know, mister Crown. You are the wings that I do not have, thank you to be in my side.
Your Excellency…
… Ah? Here we are.
Even if his residence, the manor of Elysion, was in Manehattan, the Sandlander continued to reside in the Castle of Canterlot as a part-member of the royal court. Slowly, the chariot landed on the royal courtyard, and Ashti “untied” the Pegasus from the harness and gazed the sky.
It was in the 8:00 p.m. The sky was dark and cloudless and some stars filled it. The Ambassador closed the eyes and felt the sweet evening breeze brushed him. He glanced to the stars and next walked towards de castle’s entrance.
Followed by his bodyguard, the unicorn passed through the several corridors of the building with quiet steps and during the walk the Ambassador mentally organised his evening: first, he had to take a shower, and next have late dinner. Canterlot was full of good restaurants, now he had to choose one…. But it was sad to supper alone. Then he turned back towards the Pegasus.
I… did you have planned something tonight, Sir Bastion ?
The Pegasus guard was a bit confuses. What did the unicorn had planned for him...?
I… Have… noting planned, tonight… Your Excellency, can I ask you why ?
Well… it is a little sad to eat alone. Then…
…Oh… It will be an honour, Your Excellency.
The relation between them was a bit special. Bastion Crown admired Ashti, and was devoted to his duty. The Pegasus had a great respect for the unicorn, and it was mutual. Ashti considered Bastion as friend and a precious ally. With him at his side, the Ambassador had the same feeling that the time when he had a teammate.
Some minutes later, the two ponies and… the room of the Ambassador lighted up. The two ponies wondered about it. The unicorn would to come closer, but the Pegasus guard used of his wing, as a bladed feather, for prevent the unicorn to walk forward. They looked questioningly at each other and Ashti agreed. He backtracked whereas the Pegasus, silently, step up to the part-opened door ready to fight the intruder and protect the diplomat. Looking carefully into the ajar, Bastion had the confirmation of a presence on the diplomatic suite. With a sign of the head he looked to his employer, which answered with an "Understood, go ahead." With force and celerity the Pegasus opened the door, rushing on the room and took aim the intruder with the special technic of the Pegasus guard: The feather blade."
The intruder was a mare in the same age of him and Ashti, and seemed surprise and a bit scared by the entry of Bastion.
A… a mare… ? … Who are you, what are you doing here, Mademoiselle?
Bastion used a polite and determined tone which gave it a professional look. Ashti was not far of him and when he comes closer he was able to see the mare. This one smiled awkwardly at the Ambassador, next looked to Bastion and his feathered blade.
A mare you said ?
The Ambassador entered in the room, hidden behind the Pegasus. The mare was not visible from his point of view and comes more closer. Ashti made sign to his bodyguard to put down his "blade". At the Ambassador's voice, the intruder reacted and crossed her regard on the one of Ashti.
…A… A… Ara…
He didn't have time to overcome the surprise than the mare rushed to the Sandlander and fell on Ashti's neck with joy and some tears.
…besque !
Ah, Salamalec ! Ana… ana honaja khaa'if de erbek tu deetin mish, ana hu itna khuśh !
(Ah, Salamalec ! I… I was afraid to never see thee, I am so happy !)
I…
Ashti was still in a state of shock to see his "blood sister" here, in Equestria. It was an illusion… ? It could be possible, it will be not the first time that it happens to him… but he felt the warm of the mare, her beating heart, her tears. He looked to Pegasus which was surprise and disconcerted likewise his employer. Finally the Sandlander closed his eyes and hearty hugged Arabesque too.
… Ni bhi, Khushke Arabesque… ni bhi.
(… Me too, Miss Arabesque… me too.)
The hug held out a dozen of seconds in the silence of the room and the reunion.
Khushke Arabesque… kya ose soma ere ? Ana socnaja an soma honaja aram ind Deerham
(Miss Arabesque… what are you doing here? I thought you were still in Deerham. )
Eme… Eme honoja al- dá'wa. Ana hu aram khaa'if se al- yatrakim… lekin ana cahnaja shaf phir tu. Taisa… jab al-fase de ramyidah, ana varja tasmimh de bahadur jari anamesh tirs… ek-yatra honoja tulani, lekin al-jaza’ honaja… Oh, tum karotel ni itna.
(It… it was the case. I am still afraid by travels… but I wanted to see thee again. Thus… when the season of sandstorm was finished, I decided to brave my fear… the voyage was long, but the reward was… Oh, you miss me so much.)
Ya… mosaferatja taqríban tís‘a-hazar kilomiṭarim ke shaf ni…? Ana… ana hu… sukriya, Khushke Arabesque. Soma karotel ni bhi.
(You… traveled nearly nine thousands of kilometers for see me… ? I… I am… Thank you, Miss Arabesque. You miss me too.)
The fact that Ashti didn't said "so much" was because he was worried that she learn about his disease, an incurable illness. Since his arrival in Equestria, the illness was awakes and "reinforced" by all the events that Ashti faced during these five last months. To hurt Arabesque was more painful for him that for she, and never he had planned to do this to her. He would never be able, and this only thought was enough to hurt him.
Bastion, which retook is attitude, cleared his throat, and the two Sandlanders stopped the hug, awkward.
Ahem !... Arabesque, here my bodyguard and friend Sir Bastion Crown. Sir Bastion, Miss Arabesque, my blood sister.
The Pegasus made a reverence full of deference, until arabesque graciously bowed the head in greeting.
Yʿṭis ạ̉ pla'sūr ṭho miṭ yūh, Sahib Khrov'
(It is a pleasure to meet you, Sahib Crown.)
The pleasure is mine, Mademoiselle.
The mare smiled and returned toward Ashti.
… Eger ana hu ere… hast mish sirf ke tu… lakin ke dena tum ek-ënça de hamara Raees.
(If I am here… is not only to see thee… but for give thee a gift from our Reis.)
Ashti blinked… a gift from the Reis ? He remembered the last gift that he received, it was many months ago: a simsiqanbüs, a traditional Deerean instrument. He sought to guess what this gift can be… suddenly a noise drew him out of his reflexions; the belly of Arabesque rumbling and that's embarrassed her a little. The Ambassador laughed, that was very very rare to hear this kind of noise from Arabesque. As for Ashti, she was brought up with in a noble education, and she always sought a way to hide these noises. But apparently the travel had exhausted her, and the ambassador understood perfectly.
Well… our guest needs to occupy her stomach… apparently.
Ana… hu bebashid Salamalec. (I… am sorry, Salamalec.)
She blushed, and the Ambassador smiled. Despite her professional and apparently reserved and adult attitude, Arabesque was gentle and a little shy or pure… and he thought it touching.
To… ana varja tikhnén ko jana meṁ ek-réstoran ajśam, ana heníakh ham sakna y-jana… lakin ind Canterlot, ana mali hoja lav-hitlabésh, aur ana var mish koi kaprakim suri ke ya, Khushke Arabesque…
(So… I had intended to go in a restaurant tonight, I suppose we can go… but in Canterlot we have to be well-dressed, and I do not have any formal cloths for you Miss Arabesque…)
Eth yok hich, Salamalec. Ana var sab kya ana zarurat. ^^
(It does nothing, Salamalec. I have all what I need. ^^)
She took her case and opened it : there was some cloths and a dress among the stuff. Before Ashti could answer, she turned back to him.
Tum var arsalaja-er hamesh ek-patra masin de tumesh sefiratkhane, ind Mạ̉neẖ'atān… to ana varja harc’nel alai eme jagah aur Kānther'lót : kila honaja balatar-samaj. Hakadha ana var taiyaraj ek- kapra suri ke eme munasaba.
(Thou have sent us a letter about thy Embassy, in Manehattan… then I inquire for this place and Canterlot : both was upper-class cities. Thus I prepared an upper-class formal cloth for the occasion. ^^)
You… heh heh ! You were cleverest than me Miss Arabesque, I must admit… so, we let dress you up. Follow me Sir Bastion.
Ah… Y-yes.
The Pegasus passed first the door, followed by the unicorn which closed it. Staying some seconds in the silent, the two stallions looked each other before Bastion took the floor.
Mademoiselle Arabesque is a handsome mare, I must admit.
He blushed a little, and Ashti commentated his words.
Ind(eed)… I mean, I suppose. She will certainly take her time… … card game?
Ashti showed a deck to his bodyguard which nodded.
Ten minutes later, there was some playing cards on the ground, two piles… and Bastion was nearly to won.
Your Excellency, can I ask you a question ?
… Sure.
I wondered what is your relation with Mademoiselle Arabesque… did she is your sister ?
In the room, Arabesque was in the front of the mirror, brushing her shaggy mane in the attempt to be more distinguée. Ashti was a kind of important people here, and she would not put him to shame. In his dress, she finished her hairdo with a smile and walked toward the two stallions. Arabesque was ready to show her work when Bastion questioned Ashti… she listened behind the closed door.
… Well Sir Bastion… I am a unicorn and she is an earth pony… and we have been educated by a Pegasus. We do not have any kinship… sadly.
It was… not really why I would mean, Sir.
I know Bastion… I admit Miss Arabesque could be a good sister… but I never considered her like this. For me she was a foalhood friend, a close friend. I call her my "blood-sister", because she was always with me…
The Pegasus listened attentively… and Arabesque too. This one closed her eyes, sharing a silent tear. She loved him, really. But as far as she can remember, Ashti never showed to her love, or at lease true love. Just respect, great friendship and a caring attitude to her. The relation between them was mostly a platonic relationship with a bit of rivalry.
… In fact, Miss Arabesque was married once… or nearly to be…. with one of my friends. But this one… abandoned her and it broken her heart. This was painful for her as for me… she… she was alone since her foalhood and my friend had erased it was joy; with love she opened her to the others. Then with difficulty she succeeded to restore her broken heart. But I think that since this event Miss Arabesque stayed more careful with her emotions. And I too consider her for open her injuries. She is too dear and precious to me and does not deserve it.
… Then, her joy his your happiness, Sir ?[/b][/color]
Ashti let a short silence, and answered.
… Indeed. Maybe the fact to be both orphans and stranger made us a great bond. All what I want… is her happiness. Till this time, I will continue to carry her loneliness and sorrow. She really needs to have someone for loving her for real, you know. And until she found it, I will stay on her side.
Suddenly the door unlocked, reveling Arabesque.
So, you have fini-
Bastion and Salamalec looked to the mare, gaping. She wore an elegant dress and her simple manecut gave her an aristocratic look. A Sandlander princess. Slowly Ashti and Bastion raised themselves, charmed. The unicorn had already see Arabesque in formal cloth or in dress… but this time it was different: She was more beautiful and handsome than usual, or it was him which never noticed how beautiful mare she was.
You… soma ar… jamiil…
(You… you are… beautiful…)
Heheh, sukriya. Ana hu kẖuśa eth raɖá tu, Salamalec.
(Heheh, thanks you. I am glad it pleases thee, Salamalec.)
So… I suppose you want to be alone for your reunion… then I…
The ambassador snaps out of it and smiled to the bodyguard.
Ah no. I invited you too, Sir Bastion. You are my bodyguard, you have to follow me.
B-but I do not have… formal cloths.
We have the same size… more or less, no? I have other suits in my wardrobe. I let you choose one… we await you.
I… Yes, thanks you, Your Excellency
The Ambassador retook the card game and few minutes later, Bastion jointed them.
