(Note: You know it's funny. After all this time, 'Flake STILL doesn't know that Morning's last name is Feathers!)
Snowflake shoved her hooves into the dirt as she saw Morning do the same. In her surprise, she didn't get quite as much traction as the lavender pegasus had, though fortunately she'd managed to dig in on a slight angle, which prevented her from slamming into the back of the other pony and instead left her coasting to a halt right beside her, the short distance that had been between the two covered by dint of 'Flake's slightly slower stop.
The dust that had been kicked up stung her eyes, leaving her blinking through it, but she wasn't about the shut them completely. Indeed, being so close to Morning meant she was still very much able to see, and payed full witness to, the strange poses the other pony began to strike and the sudden change in attitude that followed, plus the fact that said change was quickly forced back down to be replaced by the rather more demure Morning that Snowflake had been talking to mere minutes before.
It didn't take a genius to figure out what had just happened...
The albino struggled mightily to play it cool for a moment, but even as Morning spoke, she (being the open, honest mare that she was) just couldn't force back the incredibly smug, almost horse-apple eating grin that began to adorn her face as she regarded Morning knowingly.
"Really?" her expression seemed to wordlessly ask. "Did you really just try and hide all that from a professional reconnaissance pony a stride away from you with only a little bit of dust as your cover?"
Between this and the previous incident with this element, it was absolutely and abundantly clear that the evil within Morning was utterly ignorant of both Snowflake's weaknesses and her strengths. The Element of Despair, it seemed, just couldn't read her soul... Following on from the small amount of humour she'd been able to find in the situation as a whole just before, this minor victory cheered Snowflake up immensely, leaving her cresting on a tide of largely unwarranted mirth...
"Yes, I'm quite sure... oh Element of Despair!" she declared with a laugh, pouncing forward and tackling the other pony, trying to force her onto her back.
It was a drastic measure to be sure, but anything to stop the Element of Despair from getting away. If nothing else, it was worth a try. After all, with the revelation that the evil within Morning could do nothing to truly harm another pony, it's only weapon, fear, had been well and truly stolen away from it. This left only a soul-tainted pegasus that, luck permitting, 'Flake would be able to pin down until she came to her senses...
