Among the buildings of Ponyville, a house stood out, even stranger looking that what was considered the normal. The building was created from sheets of metal bolted and welded together into a series of what looked like a ramshackle design at first glance. If one spent time examining the design, they'd realize that the panels all tilted or curved slightly to a pair of giant rods on the roof, each linked by a trio of bronze rings. In front of the building, a sign was sitting silently, a burnt out word barely legible, The Forge.
Deep within the building, a clanging noise was suddenly heard, and if one was able to see into the building's depths, they would come across a strange sight. A mop of unruly mane, white with blackened edges was slowly making its way through the innards of his house, feeling along the walls and floors, looking for something. After tripping enough stools to realize he was in the kitchen, the figure made its way to the dark area that would serve as a storefront. Feeling his way to the counter, he finally found what he was looking for, a sizable button that he immediately pressed. The dark building seemed to shudder as deep below, a small device started, magical energy coursing forth from it along small ley-lines that ran through the metal walls, powering multiple things in the building, including a giant gear on the outside of the building that started to slowly turn, groaning from a period of immobility. As the lights powered up above him, the figure seemed to give the air of a great grin as he tried to sweep his mane back, before failing and muttering a spell keyword.
A small device raced down the hallway on a pair of wheels, seeming to all the world like an electric trimmer on a spring. With a series of bounces, the machine trimmed great chunks from the mane, revealing a pair of eyes that slowly cycled through colors, before shutting back down. The pony reached down and set the machine into one of the drawers of the counter, pulling out a pair of advanced goggles that covered his eyes, whirring and focusing in front of his vision.
"So long, shouldn't sleep that long next time. Feels like I lost a year in time." The pony uttered to himself. "Mira, where are you? MIRA!"
Immediately after his shout, a small filly crashed from the ceiling, emerging from a panel. Rubbing her eyes under a massively overshaped sorcerer's cap, she half said, and half yawned. "Ahhh-No need to yell, Gear, I'm right here, how long were we asleep?" She reached behind her and shook out her cloak that she had used as a blanket. She walked past Gearshift, heading to the kitchen. Soon a smell of pancakes wafted through the store, as Gearshift and his sister, Fantastic Mirage, had their breakfast.
"Been a while since the store was open, hasn't it?" Mira asked softly.
"Well it took a long time to repair, so I guess it has been, but its about time to change that, no?" Gear raised an eyebrow and chuckled at Mira's grin. "You know where the button is, I'm not going to stop you."
Mira walked back into the main room, pressing a giant red button along the backwall. Along the walls, shelves and panels opened to reveal countless metal, wood, and parts of every material available. The floor was set upon by a series of small scrubber magitech devices, scrubbing the steel floor spotline. Outside, a small explosion was heard as the words on the sign ignited once again, the words flaring back to life, The Forge was open once again.
