A trot through town [Dead]

A pony with a violet pelt walks down a street. The day is nice, the sun is out, birds are singing, the weather is warm and Lunar Knight has the day off. Lunar Knight has decided to take a stroll through town and enjoy the wonderful day that it is. She enjoyed talking a stroll through ponyville, every once in a while. She normally did this after doing any odd job that required her to be inside for a long time. There were not many jobs in ponyville that needed her to be inside for too long, but a job like that would pop up.

Lunar Knight didn't really have a destination, she was going where ever her hooves took her. It was usually back to her house, but it was never boring. She would always run into one of the other residents of ponyville. They usually had an interesting topic to talk about. That usually made the walks interesting.

Lunar Knight looked into the sky as she walked. There were some clouds in the sky, but not enough to ruin what a nice day it was. Lunar Knight then started to wonder when the next storm was due. She figured she could ask one of the weatherponies, if she ran into one.  Glancing around at all the different houses, Lunar Knight wondered what everypony was up too. They all were different and had different ideas on what is fun or what is exciting, so she often wondered just what they were up too. Lunar Knight then looked off into the distance. She could see Canterlot, so far but so near. She wondered what they Royal Guard was up too, as well as the Princesses. Lunar Knight took a deep breath and kept walking, wondering how long she had to go before her dream could be realized.

Hooves pattered on the dirt paths of the residential. The road was large, since a lot of ponies normally walked onto it. Dirt balls and dust filled the small area though, even when a pony would run past, dirt streak would follow them. Dust particles would flout the air like they were pegasi.

A grey mare with a really short cut, messy, green and yellow mane came down from a hill. She seemed to be running, like she was late for something. Her red eyes followed a egg-like ball which soared through the sky like an eagle. The ball could've literally sprouted wings and drifted off into the wind, but it was just a simple object. Only magic could do things like that right? The Earth Pony did also seem as if she could sprout out wings as well, the way she was running. She was gliding through the dirt road with that dirt streak behind. A tad of green and yellow followed behind as she started to run after the flying egg.

The mare started catching up to the ball, then finally leaped into the air, did a front flip, then took one of her grey hooves and stole the ball from the air. Tucking it in, she landed back onto her hooves then took off running again, until she crossed a hoof-made line. "Touchdown!" she shouted, attracting a little attention from others. She stopped celebrating, then trotted back up the long mountain, threw the ball, then started running again. She was practicing for a her hoofball game in just a day. She wasn't nervous, she loved games against Ponyville, since she always was the lead, making a win for the Cantorlot Colts.


Eternity was the mare's name. Well, nickname. Love Eternity Dovey was her full name, but it was too girly for her. Another reason to hide her cutie mark under her black pants, followed by a red jacket and her hoofball legwarmers. She also had a small band aid on her nose to make her look tougher. With the short mane cut, and the other clothing items, she thought she looked awesome.


Anyway, the mare soured like an eagle once again just to catch her eggish ball. She did of course catch it, but instead of landing on the dirt ground, she landed on another pony. "Awe horseshoes," she exclaimed annoyingly. "I could've scored that touchdown, but you got in the way!" she yelled, setting herself up onto her hooves again. She looked at the violet pony in front of her, her red eyes growing with furry, but also a little joy. Why? She had no clue.


The mare's heart was racing. She was exhausted, with her sweaty forehead from running around just to practice for a silly, but important game. Eternity's eyes followed all around the other pony, trying to figure out what was her own problem. The messy mare wanted to be mad, but something else was pulling at her. She kept that thought behind her, not knowing what it was, then started shouting something else. "What is your problem? I'm trying to practice here!"

Lunar Knight was enjoying the walk when she noticed something. There was something in the air moving towards her. Lunar Knight looked at it as it moved closer. She didn't know what it was, and was worried it was an injured bird. It was too small to be a Pegasus or anything else that was as big as a pony. Lunar Knight realized it was a hoofball, once it got closer. She had been too distracted trying too figure out what it was that she didn't notice the pony running after it. All she knew was she saw the hoofball then she got hit by something.

Lunar Knight was laying on the ground when she opened her eyes. Her side hurt and she could hear anotherpony talking. She looked up and noticed the grey mare with the green and yellow mane standing near her. It was obvious that she was the one who ran into Lunar Knight. The mare seemed to be upset with Knight for the fact that she was in the way. This had confused her because as far as she could remember the road was a public road.

Lunar knight stood up and looked at the otherpony as she yelled once more. She was once more surprised by the otherpony putting the blame on her. "My problem?" She asked getting upset. "My problem is the mare who just ran into me." She tried to give off the presence of a royal guard, that she hoped she would be one day. "This is a public road. Go practice on a field or somewhere where you won't run into anyone." She glanced around, wondering if they were drawing the attention of anypony. "Besides I am pretty sure you are the one who is behaving in reckless behavior and disturbing the peace." She gave a little smile. "I'm sure the mayor would want to know of anypony causing such a disturbance."

Eternity frowned. Was this pony telling her off? The violet mare in front of her was right about everything she said. This was a public road, and this little fuss was causing a little attention to come their way. The grey mare bit her lip, trying to think of a perfect sentence to come up and out of her mouth. She slowed her chewing from the piece of gum in her mouth, then looked down at the ground. Her bangs formed over one of her eyes, so she lifted her head back up and brushed it away. "Have you seen this place? There is no fields anywhere, besides the park. Too many ponies are there though. Also, this is the perfect spot to run just because it has a good road," she said stupidly. She didn't think those words were the perfect choice to say. They meant nothing in the situation.

The mare tried to think of something else to say, try and cover up whatever the ball of words meant from just then. The band aid on her nose scrunched up, her mind racing with different situations. Could she just change the subject? No, she would seem like a wimp. She had no idea what to say, or think of that matter. The mare looked up once again, then opened her ridiculous mouth. "And please, my game is much more important than just practicing on some grass. This is the biggest game of the whole season! So, being on some wet grass isn't going to help me. Dirt will," she said dumbly. What was she talking about? Normally she was good with these comeback. Guess she was on the low end of the stick.

The mare clumsily picked up her hoofball, then put it under her hoof onto the ground. Her red eyes went back to the green ones of the mare in front of her. Time to apologize. "Sorry," she mumbled under her breath, hoping the other pony didn't hear her.

She looked back down at the ground, then looked down at her MP3 player and started to listen to some music to get her mind off the loss of words. She put on a love song, as always, then flipped her hood on to hide her messy mane. She bit her lip once again, then closed her eyes and started to hum to her song. She didn't have a bad voice, in fact, it was kind of good. She stood awkwardly, still in front of the violet mare.

Lunar Knight was taken back by the answer the mare had given. It is true that the park could wind up with a lot of ponies there, especially on such a nice day. The comment on the spot is what really confused Lunar Knight. She had no idea what she had meant by that. She was still trying to figure out what the other mare meant when she continued. She went on about how wet grass wouldn't help but dirt would. Knight was starting to get lost on just what the conversation was about. The other pony brought up things, seemingly at random. She mentioned something about a game, an important game. Now that Knight got a better look at the mare she seemed to be wearing an interesting outfit. Knight started to wonder if she was part of a team.

Lunar Knight then heard the mare say something. It was a little quiet but she knew what it was. The other pony had said sorry. Lunar knight smiled. "Apology accepted." If she was sorry, Knight could forgive her. The pain had already stopped and she was fine. "No harm, no foul." She said still smiling. She guessed that was a dumb joke to say but she couldn't stop herself. "That is a very nice tune." She said listening to the other pony start to hum. Lunar Knight liked music but couldn't sing herself. She had tried before and has tried not too sing anything since. She knows she isn't good at it so she tries to stay out of situations that would need her to sing or even suggest it. "My name is Lunar Knight." She introduced herself with a smile. "It's always nice to meet somepony new."

Eternity hated saying the words 'sorry' or 'thank you'. She was never comfortable saying things like that, just because of her wall she was trying to build for herself. A wall that was made up of tomboyish acts and the way she treated others, which was poorly.

The red eyes of the mare fell back onto the pony in front of her. She introduced herself as Lunar Knight. Eternity tilted her head a little. First she accepted her apology, then she said her name. The grey mare was always confused on why ponies always were nice to her after her weird anger bursts. Maybe the wall she was building for herself just wanted to break, telling her that she wasn't made for rude acts. She does ignore anything her heart or brain tells her.

"Lunar Knight," she said, saying it a few times in her head. She took out one of her ear buds. "Well Lunar Knight, nice name. Sounds.. cool. Like a guard or something," she admitted. Her voice cracked a little, her heart still racing from running. Sweat drops dribbled down from her forehead to her cheeks. She felt it trickle down, so she just moved her arm over it then wiped it off, the sweat staining on her leg warmers. "I'm Lov- Eternity. Just Eternity," she said with a small smile, her teeth as white as always.

The grey mare took off her hood, then continued with her song. She started humming again. Her singing voice was completely different from her actual voice. Her normal voice was all raspy and boyish, while her singing voice was very light and soft. It was a strange thing, but she didn't care. The Earth Pony continued to hum, then looked back at Lunar Knight. She smiled as she gave Eternity a compliment, which she didn't even see coming. She didn't deserve such nice nature. "Thanks," she muttered once again. 'Ugh that word,' she thought. "You wanna listen to some?" she asked quietly. Her voice was just not there today was it? The fully clothed mare put the drooping ear bud into Lunar Knight's ear, so they were both listening to the music. "It's called Whataya Want From Me," she said with a small smile, then started humming again.

Lunar Knight felt like this mare was a shy pony. That was when She said something that made Knight feel happy. She said that her name sounded like a guard. Lunar Knight smiled widely. She was glad that she could suit that position with her name. She knew a couple of the royal guard's names and they all seemed to have names that fit there station. Lunar Knight was able to stop herself before she started to daydream about joining the royal guard, again. The pony then went on to say their name. It was obvious that they left a part of their name out. Knight knew that they must have had a reason. So she smiled and tried another lame joke. "Nice to meet you, Just Eternity." It was obvious that she didn't mean that, but Lunar Knight hoped that she got the joke.

Eternity asked if she wanted to listen to the song that she was humming. Knight nodded her head. "Sure." She closed her eyes and listened to the music. Lunar Knight listened to the music. She wanted to hear all of the song before she started made any comments on it. It sounded familiar. She might have heard it somewhere before, but she couldn't place it. She left that thought and continued to listen. Once the song was over she looked at Eternity and smiled. "It was good." She said enjoying the song. "I would listen to it again." Knight looked at Eternity. "So you like them, I'm guessing. They sound good." She nodded, more to herself.

Eternity smiled then took back her ear bud. At least Lunar Knight liked her music. She usually listened to tons of different types of songs, but they all came back to the love category. Dang she loved love songs. She could listen to them all day. She loved the sweet, soft lyrics that made her always feel lovey dovey. Does suit her name though.

The grey mare smirked at the silly joke Lunar Knight made. 'Just Eternity' was a joke she heard all the time though. Usually when introducing herself it always came to that. A lot of ponies call her Just Eternity, so she simply rolled her eyes. "Yep, I'm Just Eternity. And I'll just call you.. Knighty," she said with a smile. She loved making nicknames for others, even if they hated it. Her favorite thing to do anyway was annoy the living heck out of others.

The mare sat down on the dirty ground, her pants getting dusty. She picked up her hoofball and started tossing it around, catching it every time. While doing so, she once again switched her song to one of her favorites. She full on started singing, not caring if it sounded horrible. It didn't sound bad, it sounded nice. The mare was still concentrating on her egg shaped ball. Finally she dropped her ball, then looked at the other mare again. A soft smile appeared on her face.

"So," she started. Her voice was still a little wobbly. Was Eternity usually this shy? The answer was no, so what was wrong with her? "Knighty, tell me about yourself," she simply said. A boring, cliché question, but she didn't care. At least she didn't ask about the weather. Now that was cliché.

The short haired pony tried to keep a smile on her face, as her insides were trying to break down the wall of hatred inside her. Her heart wanted to keep her nice, telling her to ignore anything rude forming into her head. She didn't want to be rude or mess anything up, so a smile was perfect enough for her.

Lunar Knight smiled a little when Eternity gave her a nickname. "Okay, no more Just Eternity jokes." She said with a smile. She wasn't a fan of the nickname but it wasn't like she hated it. Knight watched as Eternity sad down and watched as she tossed her hoofball up and down. It was obvious that she was a player, sadly Knight didn't watch many sports. She would rather be in the game then watching it. So she didn't know what time Eternity was with or how good they were. Knight stood there for a moment and started to wonder if she was getting in the way of Eternity's training. She decided to sit down and glance around. It was still a wonderful day, even if she was sitting.

Eternity turned and ask Knight about herself. "Me?" She asked with a little laugh. She didn't think that Eternity would find her all that interesting but it would be rude not to answer. She was not too sure where to begin. "I do odd jobs." She started. She looked at Eternity. "I basically just do jobs for ponies. I am willing to work at anything. You could say I'm a Jill of all trades." She smiled again. "It isn't what I want to do, but it is good exercise so that is a plus." She looked up at the clouds. She caught herself before she started to daydream, again. She then looked at Eternity. "Is that good?" She was never sure what to say about herself. She preferred listening to but was able to talk about other things, just not usually herself. "What about you? Are you on a hoofball team?" She asked curiously.

Eternity listened to what Knight had to say about herself. She looked at Knight with a sweet smile. Why was she so happy? "Yeah, odd jobs are cool," she said with a chomp of her gum. The mare looked up at the clouds, wondering what Knight was looking at, then looked back down at the violet pony. "Wanna learn about me huh?" she started. "Well, I live in Cantorlot currently. I'm in Ponyville at the moment because I indeed play hoofball. I'm the teams captain, the team looks up for me. I play for the Cantorlot Colts and I have a game tomorrow. I love playing that sport, it's life in my eyes," she said with a smirk. "I could talk about that sport all day long if I had to," she added. "I'm a Wide Receiver obviously. I can catch any ball I see," she bragged with a chuckle. The mare looked back down at her hooves. "I can also play defense. You can come to my game if you want to," she said. She took her hoof and grabbed out a free ticket then handed over to Knight.


Eternity stopped talking, trying not to confuse Knight. She didn't seem like the type to watch sports, so the grey mare didn't want to surround her in hoofball talk. It sometimes seemed like she was some sports nerd. "Um, my dream one day is to maybe, get married or have a special sompony. I lean towards mares, but that's just me. But anyway, like that'll happen," she muttered, changing the subject from sports to her actual dream. She bit her lip nervously, then opened her mouth again. "Um, I would also like to become a professional hoofball player," she added. Not the hoofball talk again. "Of course those dreams are a little off, but I can still dream on. Getting married though is my number one. The idea of love just makes me have butterflies," she said, still looking down at the dirt filled ground. The mare looked back up at the cloudy sky, softly humming to her song.

Knight listened to Eternity as she talked about hoofball. It was a little confusing but she was able to get an idea of what Eternity's role in a game would be. "Well it sounds like you enjoy hoofball a lot, if you can talk about it all day." She smiled at Eternity. "I'm sure the team is thankful to have somepony like you on the team." Knight didn't really think that Eternity would invite her to the game, but she did and even pulled out a ticket. "Oh, my." She said looking at the ticket. "Thank you." She added and smiled as she took the ticket. "Of course."

Eternity seemed to go quiet for a moment before she started to talk about dreams. She was surprised by Eternity's dream. She had thought it would have been to win some kind of tournament or something like equestria wide. When She started to talk about wanting to be married to somepony special, Lunar Knight smiled. "I think it is a wonderful and awesome dream." She looked at Eternity. "I'm sure you will get your somepony special." She laughed a little and added. "I'm sure you will get your dream before I get mine." She closed her eyes for a moment. "I want to join the Royal Guard, but not just that. I want to be on Princess Luna's personal guard." She opened her eyes and blushed a little. "I know it will not be easy." She laughed a little out of nervousness. "I would be happy just getting to be one of the Royal Guard." She was used to that idea. She seemed to stare off into space for a moment then looked back at Eternity. "I'm sure any mare would be lucky to marry you." She then smiled.

Eternity shrugged. She's dated plenty of others before, and every single one of them broke her heart. Yeah, she was a little snarky, rude, had no manners what so ever, and couldn't really describe her feelings as clearly as other ponies would. Maybe that's why everypony broke up with her. Maybe? It was obvious why. All the ponies would clearly state why they broke up with her, but she was blind of all their feelings and only cared about herself. "Hm. My dream clearly won't happen. I'm.. psychotic," she stated once under her breath again. She was most certainly being over the top and exaggerating, but she didn't think of it like that.

The mare fumbled with her hoofball then glanced up at Lunar as she spoke about her dream. Being a guard seemed totally awesome to Eternity. Saving ponies lives? Protecting the Princesses? "Wow Knighty, that's awesome. Why live in Ponyville then? Move to Cantorlot to get something going," she suggested, trying to bring a smile back to own her face. "Being a Royal Guard seems totally legit. And being Princess Luna's personal guard is indeed far fetched, but awesome anyway. You have a good dream, great dream," she continued, bringing a smile back onto her face. Her gum clicked in between her shiny teeth as she gave out a small chuckle. Then something in her brain clicked, and a scary smirk appeared over the corner of her mouth. "Princess Luna is a specific answer. Somepony got a crush?" she asked with a chuckle. She loved joking around with ponies. 

Eternity was now looking straight at Knight, giving her a large grin. Eternity's mind was surrounded by tons of jokes and comments that would bring joy to herself. She bit her lip, still smirking from the side of her mouth. Her nose crinkled up trying to keep herself from laughing at her own jokes that stuck inside her brain. She went from upset, to joyful in a matter of minutes, which is always not a good thing.

Lunar Knight looked at Eternity. She couldn't see why Eternity would think she was psychotic. She wasn't sure if she should say anything to that, but Eternity continued talking. Knight smiled a little as she mentioned her thoughts on Knights dream. Eternity had some questions so Knight answered them. She smiled at Eternity. "I live in ponyville because this is where I grew up. I want to live here till I get into the Royal Guard." She glanced down at the ground. "I have also heard that it is extremely difficult to get into the Royal Guard." She closed her eyes and took a breath. "I'm sure it is almost as hard as getting into the wonderbolts." She smiled again.  "My dream is nice but so is yours. Everypony's dreams are nice." She glanced around at the other ponies that were in this area of town. She knew that each had their own dreams.

Knight glanced at Eternity when she mentioned the word crush. "W-What?" She said blushing. "W-Why do you say that." She turned her face away from Eternity. "I-I just admire her is all. I just want to be able to help keep her safe." She blushed more and quickly added. "A-And the other Princesses." She shook her head. "I mean, I know they are powerful but I want to help her, in any way that I can." She closed her eyes. She knew to a princess like Princess Luna, she was just one of the thousands of ponies that lived in equestria. So the chances of any of the princesses really knowing her were very small. "S-So i-its not because of something like a c-crush." She was still blushing.

Eternity searched around at all the ponies around as well. They all did have there own dreams didn't they? The red eyes of the mare looked back at Knight. She was saying something about it being super hard to get into the Royal Guard. Eternity shrugged, but then she said something about 'it's as hard as getting into the Wonderbolts'. Eternity's eyes twinkled a little at the thought. "Well, the Wonderbolts are just a talented flying squad, the Royal Guard is protecting the Princess, even Equestria! Being a guard as to be a lot harder to get into," she blurted out. She then realized what she said. "Sorry, not making your dream any easier am I?" 'Ugh the word.' "And still, if you show them how talented you are, they have to add you in," she covered her last sentence up. "And if we randomly had a war and we were out numbered, they would have to add in more ponies. Right?" she said playfully, lightly punching Knight in the arm. Eternity smiled at Knight.

When Eternity started saying Knight had a crush on somepony, she started cracking up laughing at her response. "Look at you! You're all over the place. I know love when I see it. Trust me," she said with a quick glance at her covered up cutie mark. She still never knew what her cutie mark meant, but she knew that she would love to help in any relationship. She looked back up at Knight then gave a joking smile. "You obviously like her. It's so obvious that anypony could see how obvious it is. Especially me," she said with a large grin. "Of course, your dream might happen and you could one day sleep with her," Eternity bursted out with laughter. She stopped laughing then looked back at Knight. "Alright, I know. I'm harsh and my jokes aren't the greatest," she started, standing up onto her hooves and grabbing her hoofball. "But I always do say something," she began again, switching her love song then spitting out then putting a new piece of gum in. "It's always hard to admit you have fallen in love with somepony who can't be yours."

Knight looked at Eternity, thinking to herself for a moment. "I thought the Wonderbolts was part of the guard or something." To be honest Knight didn't really know that much about the Wonderbolts. "I remember there was a dragon attack on Ponyville and the Wonderbolts showed up to take care of it." She shrugged as Eternity continued talking about the Royal guard. "It's not like you were making it any harder." She smiled then added. "And a war is just how I wanted to join the Guard." She said with a laugh. She was still worried about how well she will do getting into the Royal Guard. There would be a lot of ponies trying to get into the ranks and she wouldn't know how good they were.

Lunar Knight was still embarrassed that her crush on the princess was apparently so obvious. She was still blushing when ever it was brought up. "I-Is it that obvious?" She asked covering her face with her hoof. "T-Then maybe it would be better if I don't ever meet the princess." She could just imagine how badly that would go. Her mind was racing with how badly it could go. She was still listening to Eternity as she continued talking. "Y-Yeah. I mean, I know it couldn't happen. So I would be happy if she was happy." Knight laid down. "I mean she is a Princess. She will probably wind up with somepony really special." She covered her face with her hooves. "Like...a king...or...Some kind of hero." She sighed. "Somepony like that, not just some random guard." She sat back up and shook her head.
