You can do this. This is perfectly normal. It's a normal thing. You can do normal things. You don't have to be normal, you can be special and still enjoy doing normal things.
As the sun was setting and casting a gorgeous sunset across the sky above Ponyville, a rather large pegasus mare was standing outside of a rather reinforced looking workshop and letting her thoughts swirl around in her head. Aside from the gentle breeze rustling her mane and the sucker twirling back and forth in her mouth, no external expression betrayed her internal dialogue. It had been a long time since she visited another pony's house aside from Rivet's. A deep current of uneasy wariness was washing over Galvanic as she fixed The Forge with a nonchalant glance.
It's simple. Powderpuff's inside, just go get her, then you all get to go see a movie. A nice movie full of dramatic, last-minute saves and things exploding while the heroes gallop away in slow motion. She's a friend, it's fine, just get in there, shoulder your way through the door casually and just announce yourself. Unless...
There were likely other ponies inside. She was aware of the fact that Powderkeg didn't live in The Forge by herself, and she didn't relish making new, sudden acquaintances, especially in Powderkeg's presence. She liked the bat pony, she really did, but sweet Celestia did she have a mouth on her. It was almost as bad as having your parents talk to a date and start the evening by bringing out the baby pictures. An invisible shudder swept down Galvanic's neck. She was determined to make this evening a success, and her internal timekeeper was telling her that she had about five more seconds of cool dettached loitering outside of The Forge before she'd start to look stupid just staring at the door. She masked an anxious sigh as an annoyed snort as she shouldered her way through the door and took in the front of The Forge.
Cute, she thought, sweeping a dispassionate glare around the room. A counter, shelves full of strange gadgets, promotional material on the walls for various services, even some little couches for ponies to sit while they waited. She spied a poster on the wall that she felt certain Powderkeg herself had made, and suppressed a smirk at the innocent, childlike image and the enthusiasm behind the promise to blow the ever-loving fluff off of your next special occasion for one low price. Cute, and empty.
Well that was all well and good, wasn't it? The other ponies had probably already taken off so it was just Powderkeg waiting for her. Gally took the opportunity to slouch herself into sitting position, and bounce her voice down the nearby hallway.
"Hey." A surprising talent the large mare had was the ability to project without necessarily shouting. "You almost ready, Powderpuff?"
A moment later amidst a clattering of jars and metal containers, the soot-stained face of a bat pony poked out from one of the distant doors.
"HEY! Howdy Thunderbuns, welcome to Th' Forge! I'll git ready an' be out in two scratches of a tinderbox."
Galvanic nodded silently. She looked around a little more while she waited, somewhat grateful for the chance to inspect Powderkeg's home, or part of it anyway, without intrusion. It gave her time to form an opinion, pick it apart, and form a new one. With a somewhat relaxed grunt she rested her back against one of the walls and pressed the stick of her sucker against her teeth, determined to wait for her friend in the calmest, most nonchalant manner possible.
