Their First Date (Forgotten Existence) [Concluded]

As the Hero or Warrior of time as he had reluctantly become to be known walked down dimly lit streets of Canterlot, he wondered how tonight would go. It was his first date with his marefriend (a phrase he used tentatively) so he was more than a little nervous. He was wearing his armour, the very same set he had met her in. The reason for this was that he wanted to look fancy for their date and this was the only fancy thing he owned, although he had opted not to put his wing plates on because he didn't want to collapse in a ball of pain and tears.

Under his wing he held a bouquet of black roses, he didn't even know such a thing existed but as soon as he saw them he saw the beauty of his gal in them. As he entered the Castle ground, nodding to the guards as a sign of respect although they were told that if they stopped him then they would be dealing with a very angry bat pony.

Walking past the main door and around the castle to the little set of off buildings that formed the guard barracks, it was around 5 buildings, 2 of which were for day guards and 2 for night guards and finally one as a cafeteria. Knowing that Nightfall slept in the regular guard bunks as she didn't want to feel different from her troops, he head straight for the grunt building where she told him to meet her. Thankfully this was one of her rare nights off so the two could have the night to each other.

Approaching the large heavy set doors and opening them by pushing with his shoulder, entering the warm military building. Mannequins with armour along the wall and large shields decorated the walls as Aero stepped across the huge wooden planked floor into the lobby area of the barrack, waiting for his girl.

"Um...Nightfall?" He called out.

The Captain of the Lunar Guard, a title that one did not earn lightly. The lunar pegasus who possessed it lived up to the name; she had fought skirmishes in distant lands to quell threats against Equestria, she had halted an invasion that nopony would ever hear about, she had defended her princess against Changelings, and had enough experience under her belt to make even the strongest of warriors shudder in fear. There was very little that she couldn't face, and there was no opponent she had taken on that hadn't been defeated by her and her forces. But that night, there was something significantly different about the fearsome Captain, and it shattered most of what she even thought of herself.

She was afraid.

Nightfall looked at herself in the mirror in the commanding officer's room at the back of the barracks, and grimaced at the sight that looked back at her. She was usually a rugged and regal pony wrapped into one package, with armor strapped on and an attitude to match the rough and royal appearance. The pony that stared back in the mirror was anything but rugged. Her short pale purple mane was brushed neatly, and given a light amount of volume. Her bright green eyes, usually flaring with a commanding anger to them, now appeared softer and more feminine with the touch of eyeliner that she had applied. And finally, instead of her usual Lunar Guard armor that she wore, she had on her Captain's dress uniform. While it was still distinctly military in appearance, it wasn't armored, and it was feminine...sort of. While she wouldn't call herself strikingly gorgeous or anything, she would at least accept that she looked presentable.

But what really had her nervous wasn't the change in her appearance, or how vulnerable she felt without her armor or her weapon. It was the fact that she had just heard her new stallionfriend, which was still something that would take some serious getting used to, call out her name from the lobby of the barracks. The sound of his voice, while usually soothing on his visits during her duty hours, now caused her just shy of a panic. Their first date was something that made her nervous enough that heading into a combat zone sounded like a favorable action.

Cursing under her breath at herself, she pushed back from the mirror and started towards the door, hesitating with each step. Before she got to the door, she stopped and took a good long breath, trying to calm her nerves before she pushed the door open and strode out. She closed the door behind her with a wing, perhaps a little harder then she should have, but nerves had that effect on ponies. The walk from her room door to the door that lead to the lobby felt like miles to the Captain. The rows of beds on either side of her felt like they stretched on forever, casting a nightmarish effect on her as she trudged onward to the lobby door, and the stallion beyond.

Though it took her a good minute to get to the door, she stopped in front of it, and once again took a heavy breath to try and calm her nerves. When the breath failed to sooth her, she took another, and then another. After that, she realized that she wasn't going to get any more calm about the subject, and simply stopped trying. As scared as she was about the date, there was an old saying that she liked to follow; nothing ventured, nothing gained. And so, with one last shaky curse to herself, she reached forward and pulled open the door.

"Aero," she breathed nervously, but an unmistakable smile came to her lips regardless of her nervousness.

Aero shifted his weight nervously as he waited for his date, he had done many things in his day but this was on a new level. Swallowing his apprehension he sighed softly as he paced slightly. He didn't want to seem like a coward and he was very excited, but he was very worried that he wasn't going to be good enough for her. It was less of a self confidence issue and more of a, this girl is incredible and I'm not good enough for her kind of issue.

For whatever reason she had agreed to go out with him and not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Aero was here and ready to go. Sadly due to the fact that his girlfriend was nocturnal, things that could do were few and far between. He'd arranged for them to go to a fancy restaurant and then had asked for special permission to use the royal gardens for a walk about all to themselves. He was pretty proud of what he had been able to put together, he just hoped it would make her happy.

Hearing her soft voice say his name, he turned to see her and was almost floored by what he saw. Taking a slight step forward, he looked at her in her dress and beautiful mane with his mouth open slightly. He was staring her her for about half a minute before he shook his head slightly and reached under his wing and held out the bouquet of black roses for her, still not being able to say anything that wasn't just 'buwh' or 'wuh' sounds.

He finally managed to clear his throat and say something, or at least utter a sound that summed up how he felt.

"Wow..." He breathed out in awe. "You look incredible" He smiled with a big grin.

Moving forward and hugging her softly, kissing her cheek he looked around the place for a moment before chuckling.

"Nice digs, you ready to go?" He asked with a smile.

The pause between her voice and his made a flare of panic burn into the back of her mind again. What had she done wrong? Was her uniform not pressed properly? Did she do something wrong with her hair? Had she completely miscalculated the situation and gone too formal or not formal enough? The thoughts flared up and passed through her mind at about a million thoughts per second, but she refused to visually show it. Instead, she maintained her composure, giving herself a few moments to just wait and see what he thought of the situation. Her heart skipped a beat when he said wow, and she half expected him to say something criticizing. The smallest flaw would create the biggest failure, she had learned that enough times.

But when he instead said that she looked incredible, the bat pony couldn't push away the blush that came to her cheeks, and the shyness of her smile that creeped back onto her lips. While she knew that it was illogical to assume the worst of him, it was really how she was trained. Always expect the worst, even when the best is assured. She didn't know why she got so nervous about his reaction, or why she hung to his every word like a lifeline. It was a strange feeling in her chest, like standing on the edge of something she could hardly describe.

The beautiful flowers, of course, didn't help the feeling. In fact, she'd swear that they made her heart jump up into her throat. Gingerly taking them from him, she resisted the urge to hide her blushing cheeks from him, and instead returned his hug and spoke softly, "You're far too kind, I would hardly call this incredible. But these flowers are absolutely beautiful, thank you!" she said, pulling away and smiling nearly ear-to-ear at him.

Stepping to the side, she gestured, "Well, say what you will about the guard, but they spare no expense when it comes to housing. I'm going to go put these in a vase before we go, alright? You can come with me if you'd like," she suggested, half hoping that he would go with her so that she wouldn't have to be without him for the time it would take. But also half hoping that he wouldn't, so that she could shake some sense back into herself before she left.

Smiling at her words, Aero was relieved and really happy that she liked the flowers. He felt like he was holding his breath over every little decision he had made for tonight, in his head he was laughing at his own cowardess. He knew that she was doing it as well, they were both hardened military veterans and here they were acting like scared puppies. He dared not laugh out loud however as he was worried he'd come across like an idiot.

When she said he could come with her to put the flowers in a vase it was a no brainer, nodding his head with a big smile he followed behind her into the bunk area where Nightfall slept. The room was a long wide affair, with rows upon rows of sturdy wooden bunk beds running along either side. There was a large trunk at the foot of each bed, all in all it was very military. However because the guards were meant to live here, the beds were much nicer than army beds. A solid wooden frame of the beds supported a thick and plump mattress and soft pillows. All in all it was a very rustic and nice place to be, of course it still had that formal squeaky clean military feeling that you only got by making troops scrub things with their tooth brushes...ahh memories.

Not entirely expecting them to have vases on hoof, he recalled the most upper class thing that Aero had in boot camp was his blanket and even that was considered a luxury. Moving up to her side, he decided to wrap his wing around her warmly. He did this simply because he liked having her nearby and despite the cold touch of his armour, he was pretty sure she wouldn't care.

"So, you been looking forward to tonight?" He asked with a grin.

Finishing her turn towards the door she had just walked out of, she started walking alongside her stallion, keeping a brisk pace, though forcing herself to refrain from marching. It was a date, not a military inspection, so she had to at least try to refrain from doing something so simple as marching. Although, she had to admit, it felt like a military inspection to her. Or even worse. A military inspection, the worse that could happen would be a demotion or getting yelled at by someone scarier then yourself. A date most certainly took the prize when it came to the worst punishment if things went wrong.

Nightfall was caught off guard when he slipped his wing around her, and she couldn't hide her blush as she was pulled against him. She quickly readjusted the flowers so that they didn't get crushed between them. Keeping her pace in time with his, she glanced up at him and turned her gaze forward again, hiding a sheepish smile as best she could, "I don't think you really need to ask that question..." she trailed off, then leaned into his side slightly and reached up to nuzzle his cheek slightly, "But yes," she said quickly.

When they got to the door at the end of the row of beds that led to her room, she quickly pushed the door open and led him inside. By no means was her room a grand thing. It was a lot like her office in the castle, and even had the same stylized glass panel on the door leading into it. The wall that separated her room from the barracks and the beds was cut horizontally in half; half of it was wood paneling like the rest of the barracks, and the other half was window panes so that she could keep her eyes on her soldiers even when she was in the room. Though, they where covered by blinds for when she needed privacy, or for when she was out. They were closed for the latter at the moment.

In the center of the main portion of her room, where she could see out of the windows from, was a desk in the center of her room, on top of a midnight purple carpet. A few filing cabinets behind her held no decorations, a lamp hanging from the ceiling above her desk and a lamp on her desk proper were the main things in the first room. Next to the door on either side of the barrack's side of the door were a few chairs to sit soldiers who needed to be spoken to, or yelled at (depending on the circumstance), though on her side of the door there was only one chair against the wall, opposite the side the door swung open to. It was Nightfall's preference to have the one chair there, so when she had a pair of trouble making soldiers, she could sit one down to watch as she yelled at one, and then the same to the other. A scare tactic, it tended to work.

To her left was a solid wooden door, which led to her own bathroom and facilities. To the right was another solid wooden door that led to her bedroom and where she kept things stored. Heading to the door on her right, she opened the door and headed straight for the chest at the foot of her bed. She had kept only a few things with her from her when she decided she'd live in the barracks. Things that had been given to her as gifts, she had either put in storage, or left at her parent's house for the time being. She did bring a vase of some sentimental value with her when she left though, at her grandparent's request. She had never had use for it before, but as the time called for it, she thought it would be a good way to put the antique to use.

The vase she removed from the bottom of her chest was a decent size for a vase, and very artfully done. Painted by her grandfather, it depicted a scene of a moon cresting over some mountains, shining down on evergreen trees and plains of flowers and grass. Her grandfather had always been a good painter, even if she didn't often enjoy works of art, she could appreciate the things that he painted. Smiling a little to herself, Nightfall set the vase down on her nightstand and set the flowers in it gingerly. Stepping back to admire the small piece of art in her otherwise bland room, she couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the scene. The moon peeking through the window behind a vase of black roses, standing in front of the Captain of the Lunar Guard, who was terrified as a filly at the thought of getting flowers from her stallion.

Despite the ironic situation, Nightfall had a growing feeling that it was going to be a great date.

It was true, Aero didn't need to ask the question because he knew the answer. Didn't stop him from loving the answer, he was goofy like that. As they entered her room, Aero had to shake his head for a moment as he felt like they had stepped into her office through some kind of strange portal. He had to chuckle for a moment as he really wasn't expecting much else from his girl, he'd come to learn her to not be the most expressional mare in the world. This room however had a lot more to it than her office which was pretty darn blank in terms of sentimentality. The vase she pulled from her trunk for example seemed to be a hoof made affair, not something store bought.

Seeing her admiring the flowers brought a slight smile to his face, just the fact that her happiness was because of him really made him feel warm inside. Walking up to her side, he looked out of the window with her for a moment before turning his head to look at her.

"Shall we get going? I've got us a reservation at that...oh I can never pronounce it...Goût de paradis" He had to space out each word as he was not good at his Prench.

The restaurant in question was one of the nicest and fanciest places in Canterlot, which was saying something. To get a reservation and be able to afford this he'd had to call in around 36 favors, all of which he was sure he'd regret and all of which he didn't care about. When going out to prepare for this date, there was nothing that somepony could have asked of him that he wasn't prepared to do for Nightfall.

"Don't ask, lets just go." He chuckled as he turned to face the door

Nightfall leaned against Aero lightly and smiled to herself, admiring the flowers in silence and taking the time to enjoy the calm moment before their date came around. It was going to be a nerve-inducing time, without a doubt. So she would quite happily stand there with him until they had to leave. It also gave her time to enjoy the addition of the vase and flowers to her room, which gave it a little extra detail to the room and made it more expressive. There was actually very little else in the way of decoration in the room, other then her decorative quilt which came from somewhere down her lineage, and the picture of her and her parents hanging above the head of her bed.

Blinking at his comment, she turned to him and chuckled quietly, trying not to laugh at his attempt to speak the Prench words. While it wouldn't be the first time that she had dined at the restaurant, it would be the first time that it hadn't been on some protection duty or some sort of black-collar event that she had been dragged into on orders of representing the Lunar Guard. So, in other words, she was quite shocked that she'd be going somewhere so expensive and exclusive, and actually enjoy herself. Nightfall could only imagine how many favors he had to pull, but really didn't think that she should expect anything less from Aero. After all, he didn't leave things half-done.

"Really? On your salary?" she asked with a teasing grin, looking quite like a school filly at the moment with the dumb grin on her lips. While her surprise was true, she was more touched by the fact that he would do that for her, rather then actually making fun of him. And she felt a little humor would be nice, she loved his laughs.

Laughing lightly herself and nodding, she turned and followed him to the door, pausing only for a moment to eye her armor and weapons that were on a ponyquin in the corner. It wasn't usual that she left the barracks at night without them. Giving a quiet snort, she shook her head and quickly trotted out with Aero, leaving the usual equipment behind as she closed the door. She was sure that she wouldn't need it. After all, what was the worst that could possibly happen on their date? Surely nothing that would require her to be armed and armored.

Sallying up next to him, she couldn't resist. Trying her best to hide her grin, she spoke without looking up, "Oh, and Aero? It's Goût de paradis," she corrected, using the best pronunciation that she could manage without cracking up into fits of true laughs. She wasn't entirely bilingual, but it was part of the job description that she had at least some knowledge of other languages. And she couldn't just let his pronunciation go without correcting him, or she'd be giggling all night. And she certainly couldn't have that.

Sarcastically laughing at her comment about his salary, it was true that his income was not entirely stable at present. He had been sent a letter recently that said he may be chosen to do some work in a town called Ponyville for some unknown reason, however that probably wouldn't go through for a week or so. As she walked over to him he turned around and began walking along with her, he was about to say something until she corrected his Prench pronunciation.

"Know it all." He smirked as he nudged into her playfully as he walked beside her.

Walking back through the bunk room, the two headed back through the lobby and out into the cool night air. It was a little chilly tonight but nothing that the two military sorts weren't used to, in fact they almost enjoyed it as they could keep each other warm. Luna had outdone herself with the night sky this evening, it was a truly beautiful night and provided the perfect backdrop for their date.

As they walked down the castle path way, various Luna guards eyed the couple with judgmental looks. Most didn't trust Aero, they also didn't like how easily trusting their captain was of him considering he was not a bat pony. Now by no means were the bat ponies intolerant, however after growing up being picked on by other ponies and getting lots of tormenting in boot camp they had learned to not trust easy.

"Seems your men don't have the eye for me, do you think its my fat flanks?" Aero looked back as his armoured flank with a over the top girly sigh in his goofy fashion, showing how little he cared what the guards thought.

Nightfall chuckled lightly and nudged back into him playfully, her grin absolutely refusing to leave her face. Honestly, she couldn't resist showing off her knowledge of things whenever the chance to do so happened to come up. And though she wouldn't admit it, if she could impress Aero, then that would just be a bonus of its own. She was rather nervous about not making a good impression on him, even though he already seemed to like her enough to go out with her. But just because they were going out didn't mean that she was making a good impression on him, which meant that she would have to avoid making any snide or sarcastic remarks that could come off as being rude. She had a tendency of doing that... result of barking at recruits every day.

Th Captain wasn't bothered by the chilly weather, in fact, she actually enjoyed it. It was more often that nights were cold then they were warm, and night was day to a Lunar Pegasus. As such, she found herself quite enjoying the night air as she admired the night scenery. Not a cloud in the sky, uncountable stars in the sky like little white dots on a black canvas, and a full moon crawling its way up the sky. It was a beautiful night, and she had to admit, it was the perfect setting for their first date. Romantic, if she had to call it such. She usually didn't notice how the night sky was any more romantic then the day, since she saw the night more frequently. But, that particular night was special to her.

While they passed the guards that gave Aero looks, Nightfall did her best not to glare or snap at them. But she understood why they were skeptical about him. He was an unknown, an outsider, which meant that he was treated with fear and anger by the Lunar Pegasi. Most of them were typically ostracized by the other races because of their affiliation with Nightmare Moon, and their appearance being viewed as dark or scary. So when the Captain of their Guard suddenly upped and started going out with someone who wasn't a Lunar Pegasus, it was to be expected that they'd be met with such reactions.

She'd have to make a point of giving them a stern talking to afterwards.

Nightfall gave a small laugh and rolled her eyes, nudging him with a wing, "Heh, naaaaah. I don't think they have a problem with your hips. Might have something to do with your helmet hair," she teased, referring to the first time she had met him. Of course, his hair was far from helmet-headed at the moment. It took away from his wild look and made him more regal looking, and while she didn't care about appearances for the most part, she had to admit that she liked his hair when it didn't look like it hadn't seen a brush in a thousand years.

Chuckling at her little quip, Aero gave a wink to the guards who damn near exploded out of agitation at the pegasus. Laughing as he and Nightfall exited the castle grounds through the large secure gate and out onto the path that lead up to the castle. It was actually quite a walk to the restaurant and Aero didn't want to make his girlfriend walk that much even if she wouldn't mind in the slightest, not only that but they had a dinner reservation to make and he was always a stickler for punctuality as it was something they sorta beat into you at boot camp.

As such there was a little surprise waiting for his girlfriend outside of the gate, sat in front of the gate, ready for its passengers was a beautiful carriage. The carriage had 2 strong looking stallions at the helm and was illuminated by two candle lit lanterns that hung on either side of the carriage. Aero grinned, his romantic genius knew no bounds!

Walking over to the side of the little carriage and holding out his hoof to Nightfall to help her up into it, fully aware she didn't need any help but just trying to be a good boyfriend for her. Aero was not good at dating or courtship, he often found in his youth that he didn't try enough or simply dind't realize he was meant to do something. Not wanting to make the same mistakes with Nightfall he was pulling out all the stops that he could to make her feel special, he really liked her and wanted to make her know it.

"Am I not the most romantic guy or what?" He chuckled as he wanted for her to step onto the carriage.

Nightfall had come out of the castle fully expecting that she'd be walking to the restaurant with Aero, and it hadn't bothered her in the slightest. Walks were soothing, simple matters of muscle memory and destination. And on some accounts, walks could be romantic, if the books were to be trusted. However, she hadn't expected that her date would have actually brought a carriage around for them, let alone a carriage that was being pulled by stallions who were actually willing to work at that hour. It surprised her to no end, but admittedly, the surprise was lovely. She did her best to contain her grin, which resulted in a half-masked smirk that made her look like a little filly with fangs, giving the Lunar Pegasus a look that could be defined as much adorable as it was terrifying.

Holding her grin for just a bit longer, she followed him up to the carriage and happily took his helping hoof, humoring him as she climbed up into it. Settling in, she turned to him, "Well, you know you didn't have to get this carriage," she spoke, then her voice dropped a little lower, her smirk finally breaking into her barely controlled grin, "But yes... you are," she admitted with a little nod. While she really had no previous experience to compare it to, he was presenting the date very romantically, at least at the moment. She could have been completely mistaken and it was actually not romantic in the slightest, but frankly, she really didn't care.

At the moment, she was perfectly happy to be given flowers, escorted from the castle to a hired carriage, and given a hoof up into such said carriage. If the date had been just that, she would have called it a beaming success in and of itself. Of course, she looked forward to what else he had planned for their date, and what other ways he would regal her with his gentlecoltly acts. Of course, the Captain did have to admit, she hadn't blushed quite so much in her entire life. Her cheeks were absolutely red as apples as she settled into the carriage, and as much as she wanted to hide them, she figured there really wasn't escape enough to hide her blush. So instead, she sat there like a school filly, with a wide and beaming grin on her lips, the darkest possible blush on her cheeks, and her heart aflutter in her chest.

Aero knew he'd done good a good job when he'd gotten one of the fearsome bat ponies of the night, guards of the night princess and warriors of olde to blush like an embarrassed schoolgirl. Grinning along with her as he clambered into the carriage and the stallions set off a brisk pace, their hooves clattering along the cobbled streets of Canterlot as they moved away from the castle.

Scooting up next to Nightfall and wrapping his wring back around her, Aero sat back in the comfy seat of the carriage. He was regretting wearing his armour for the evening now as he realized he would have to sit eating dinner in the big clunky lump of metal, he REALLY needed to get a suit if he was going to keep going out on dates with Nightfall and he was fully intending to continue dating her.

Happily snuggling up against her, he looked out at the night environment of Canterlot. The night sky and the street lights gave it a beauty that the day would never be able to match. Ever since meeting Nightfall, Aero had been spending his evenings going to the castle and keeping her company while she was doing her usually paper work gibberish. Because of this he had shifted his sleeping pattern to the extent that he was almost as nocturnal as her and he didn't mind so long as he was spending time with her.

"You know I've not slept properly in the past...3 nights because I've been so excited for tonight." Aero was a little embarrassed to admit that but he saw no reason to hide it frankly, she knew that he was a bit of a goof and a dork so why pretend he was any different.

At the carriage trundled along peacefully, it really was panning out to be one of the best evenings either of the ponies had ever had. It felt nice to be able to relax, a rare luxury for military ponies but as Aero pulled Nightfall into side with his wing he knew that he was having the perfect night.

"So you're from around here, whats this city like? I've still not had a chance to explore it much, seems pretty big." He asked with a curious eye as he looked out on the pleasant scenery that was the higher class area of Canterlot around the castle, this is where a lot of wealthy ponies lived.

Nightfall leaned up against Aero, nuzzling into the pegasus beside her. Even though he wore his armor, she was actually quite comfortable up next to him. Honestly, she had gotten very used to him being around in his armor as naturally as if it were just a part of him, and had learned to not be bothered by the armor whenever they got close. But she was at least thankful that he didn't have his wing plates on. It always concerned her when she noticed that they caused him pain, so she often insisted that he didn't wear them. Their date was one of those times.

Leaning her head against him lightly, she mused to herself silently, thinking about how much the past couple of weeks had changed Nightfall's usual schedule. Instead of spending nights alone out on patrol or stuck behind her desk working on paperwork, Aero had showed up almost every night for at least an hour since they had met. The past few nights, he showed up for almost her entire shift. She couldn't imagine anypony else having the drive to completely change their sleeping schedule like Aero did, but he was a special stallion, and there was no doubt in her mind about that. And if it meant more time to spend with him, she was certainly more than happy to spend it all with him.

The Captain blinked a few times at his comment, then chuckled softly and nodded against him, "I admit, I've had my own share of missing sleep over this. I suppose you can imagine just how excited and...well, nervous, I've been about this date," she admitted, pushing her head into him slightly after the admittance of her nervousness. It was strange for her to be nervous about anything, and even stranger yet to be admitting that she was nervous to someone. However, she made an exception for Aero, and felt comfortable in telling him that he wasn't alone in losing sleep over the date.

Sitting up slightly to look around and gather her surroundings after having zoned everything out other then herself and Aero, she quickly gathered where they were. She shrugged slightly before she spoke, "Well, it's a nice city and everything. But it's divided into sections a lot more than other cities. You have districts like this one, where the richest and most important live. Then you have more poor districts, and you have smaller communities that don't rely on economic status. These communities are pretty typical; certain races, cultures, beliefs, they all tend to crowd together. Like the community I grew up in," she explained, looking at some of the manors and high class buildings they passed. Continuing, she turned to look up at him, "And then there are the market districts, business and arts districts, the whole works. It's a very organized city, which is incredibly useful considering its size. Makes everything relatively easy to find," she concluded with a smile. Even though he didn't have much down in the way of exploration, she would happily answer any questions he had about the city if she thought it would make the experience easier for him. She also hoped that she'd be able to get enough time off in the future that she'd be able to take him around the city and show him where some iconic things were, have a nice little tour of Canterlot together.

Aero was happy to have Nightfall lean against him as she went over the various details of the city like somewhat of a tour guide, he was actually genuinely interested because he lived in the city and didn't really know much about it. From what he could tell however the city seemed much like any other city in the world, he supposed the fact that this was the capital would make that sort of obvious. Way back in Aero's time, however long ago that was (he still hasn't been able to figure that out) this was an entirely different city. Actually now that he thought about it this might not even be the same place, looking at maps revealed how drastically the world had changed in the form of its continents so really who knew anything anymore?

Despite whatever problems the city had it was providing the providing the most beautiful back drop and scenery for their little carriage ride, the streets lights glowed with a slight purple tint while the buildings and greenery all looked stunning in the moon light. Up above were the hundreds of millions of stars and constellations that the princess of the night had organized, such a night sky seemed a waste on such a night to anypony else but to the couple it couldn't have been more perfect.As the carriage's wheels rattled along the cobbled streets of upper class Cantlerlot, they entered into the business district, stores and eateries abundant and prices out of the freaking stratosphere. There were now some more ponies on the street than there had been in the residential area, where before there was only a passerby every ten minutes or so there were more and more here. The abundance of ponies showed that this city never really slept, the bars and clubs seemed to be bursting at the seams while the restaurants had queues of highly dressed and classy ponies wanting to get a meal.

At the end of the street like some kind of movie scene was the incredible high class and stupidly expensive Goût de Paradis, how Aero ever even got in contact with the place with be a mystery eternal. Still, best not to look a gift horse in the mouth as it were. As the carriage approached the end of the street where the restaurant was brightly lit up, announcing itself to all, the carriage turned the corner to line up the exit for the passengers directly at the door to the amazing restaurant. The exterior of the place was subtly glitzy and a bit of an eye sore, spotlights pierced the nights gaze while coloured lights adorned the rims of the windows. Perfectly cut and symmetrical spherical bushes lined the outside walls. Pillars were either side of the impressive open door that was guarded by 2 large stallions in suits, seemed to needed to be on the list to even get into this place.

The arrival of the carriage caused more than a few ponies in the long long long queue to lean to the side and see what was going on, seemed somepony important had arrived. Stepping out of the carriage with his brilliant golden armour, there were more than a few raised eyebrows at the apparent scruffyness of this golden adorned pony. Still he seemed to attract the attention of a lot of the mares in the line, however their looks turned a little sour when he held his hoof out to help Nightfall out of the carriage. Immediately there were snobbish looks at the bat pony, since most bat ponies if not all of them were Luna guards there was a bit of a class divide. Turning and heading toward the doors, the bouncers glared at the two as if they were about to get thrown to the curb. Quite the opposite in fact, with a big smile they moved aside and let the two pass.

Aero turned to Nightfall as they walked past the precipice of the doorway into the warmth of the lobby of the restaurant, he felt he owed her an explanation.

"I told them I'd get them into the Canterlot guard acadmey if they got me in, don't worry they're good enough, I'm not that dumb." he chuckled.
