It was one of those average winter days in Ponyville. Pleasant, sunny weather, the air wasn't too cold and a blanket of snow covered the streets. Quite well cleared streets in fact, with much larger piles of snow at the sides. Just another one of those chores winter forced on ponies, but the wonderful weather seemed to cheer everyone right up, if they ever felt like the colder season was starting to be a bit too much. Even if there were some different things everypony had to do when the snow came, in the end, winter was a season for rest. The nature rested and prepared for the spring, the time when they had to bloom once again and fill the world with colors.
Silk Suture was quite new to Ponyville, just having recently moved in there and set up his store. Not open for business quite yet of course, as it was a great idea to get one's bearings after everything was in place. Ponyville seemed... Different, to a pony used to living in Canterlot. Much smaller, much more... Well, homely was perhaps the word. It was hard to say if the pegasus liked it yet, but in a way, perhaps Ponyville was a bit larger and busier than he had thought. Not like Canterlot in any way, but not quite the small little village a place called "Ponyville" made it sound. It was hard for Silk to say if that was a good or a bad thing yet, either.
He did feel like a fish out of water. Perhaps he stuck out like a sore thumb, with every other pony seemingly knowing exactly their way and having some kind of goal in mind as they walked and chattered. Or perhaps it only felt that way because he was new. Silk Suture just wandered around, looking around him, most likely looking lost as he glanced at the snow-covered roofs of various buildings. Getting a mental map down of the place felt like an important step in learning to get around for the pony, but he did feel awfully silly doing it. Everyone he had managed to change a few words with in Ponyville seemed nice and friendly and all, but well, of course he felt like he had this aura of dignity he had to keep up... Impossible when you didn't quite know your way around the place you lived in, yet.
