Warp Delivery had been about to head home for the day from his job at the Canterlot Post Office. But at the last second, right before he was out the door, his boss had called him to his office.
"Warp, we need one more delivery run today. I know we had you flying all over the kingdom today, but the delivery is fairly close compared to the other cities today. Its simply going to Ponyville. You are the only long distance flier here right now, so can i rely on you for this delivery?"
The dark green pegasus gave his chief a cool glance, neither being rude or respectful of him. He let out a soft sigh, then his wings stretched out, a bit cramped in the small office. He stretched them out, letting the muscles get warmed up again in anticipation for the journey.
"Very well, I suppose this will be a quick job, unlike the others."
He walked out of the office and slipped back on the mailbag that fit snugly around his frame, and looked around the office for the package. The package was around the size of a small loaf of bread, which made sense, since larger packages were given to the bigger freight mail pegasi. But Warp took care of the smaller packages, getting them to their destination in a third of the time at least of the bigger pegasi. He wrapped his scarf around his neck and mane and walked out of the building. Trotting to the main road in Canterlot, he circled around until he was facing his destination. Letting out his wings to their full span, which was about two feet longer than what was average for pegasi of his size. He started galloping down the road, as his powerful wings started to flap. After about ten seconds of running, with a single mighty downward stroke of his wings, he took off from the ground at high speed, shooting high into the sky in record time. Then after a second of hovering, he gave another powerful flap of his wings and rocketed off into the night.
As he flew through the sky, he started to smile. This was one of his favorite things to do, just sit back and zoom through the night. Out here, nothing could catch or even see him. He loved the feeling of the wind rushing through his mane and feathers, and hummed to himself as he soared through the sky. He caught onto a thermal, and rode it most of the way to Ponyville. As he got closer, his smile started to diminish as he slowed himself. Looking for a clear path, he came down to the earth and landed, running forward to help get rid of his momentum. As he slid to a stop, he tightened his scarf once again, and pulled out the small piece of paper that came with the package, containing the name and location to deliver the package. He raised an eyebrow.
"The Ponyville Dump? I wonder what was so important for him that they wanted it delivered express."
Shaking his head, he trotted through the town, looking for the dump, eventually finding it. He knocked on the door of the house that stood beside it, and waited for a few minutes before knocking again. He was a bit irked that there was no response, and he didn't want to just leave the package sitting out for anyone to take. Sighing, he turned around and faced the town again. Looked like he was going to have to search for this, Dusty Pan. He started to trot around town, looking around for anypony to help him out.
