Nook had to frown at that. Ejaz's tone just sounded so sad. "Aw you sound so sad and full of regret when you say that. This Listress gal sounds like the possessive type to me. The kind that my parents often warn me about," stated Nook full of empathy.
"Hoofington, eh?" she mused cocking her head. "I can't say that I have ever been there. What's it like? Is it like Ponyville or is it bigger or fancier? Sorry for shooting you with all of these questions and I hope they're not making you feel uncomfortable. It's just I'm awfully curious since I've never been to Hoofington yet nor have I met someone from there before; which is really surprising when you think about it since the nature of my work has me traveling all over Equestria. I guess I just haven't had a case as of yet that takes place in Hoofington," Nook inquired trying her best to maintain professionalism.
With Ejaz insisting he hold the door open for her, Nook not wanting to interfere with a stallion's genuine attempt at chivalry allowed him to do so and walked inside Ponyville's City Hall with a gushing, easily impressed Ejaz bounding right behind her. She swore if he had a camera that he'd be using it right about now. She supposed it was a good thing that he didn't otherwise he'd likely be taking pictures of every little thing and thus bothering the busy ponies inside with his camera's flash.
She couldn't say if it would embarrass him, but it would certainly embarrass her. As a local detective and finder of lost things she had been in here numerous times before, so she liked to think that she knew all the politicians within well enough to have a sort of rapport with them. There was no way she was going to let anything or anyone jeopardize her current good reputation that she has around here.
course her superhero alterego, Nightwing didn't have nearly as much luck in the good reputation department with the politicians. Rather than focus on all the good she does and tries to do as Nightwing, the politicians around here preferred to go on and on about whatever costly damages Nightwing causes during her heroics. course not one of the politicians seemed too keen on listening to reason. They don't seem to get or appreciate that Nightwing does what she's gotta do to save the day. Instead, they just all fall back on all the bits that Nightwing's heroics costs the city not even caring that Nightwing wouldn't have 'accidentally' broken anything if certain lowlife ponies weren't trying so hard to break the law. 'You should really be complaining about the bad guys running amok here not Nightwing, It's their fault things broke during the pursuit not hers. If they hadn't broken the law in the first place...' Nook recalled often informing the ever stubborn politicians.
Nook Cranny was so enthralled in her own thoughts that she almost didn't hear Ejaz's positive remark on City Hall's choice in interior decor. Finally snapping out of her own thoughts she nodded. "Oh yes it most certainly is. And not to mention beautiful in its own sort of bureaucracy type way. Of course a lot of places these days seem to be that way. Bigger inside than out or it just be our own imagination playing tricks on us to make us think things are bigger when they're really not. Fun huh?" she said giving him a playful push. "Good thing neither of us has a camera..." she muttered mainly under her breath. However, Ejaz could have heard her. Nook of course was lying since she did in fact had her trusty camera on her. It was safe and sound inside her saddlebag, but there was no way she was going to take it out in front of Ejaz unless she had some kind of proof that he wouldn't go all tourist crazy on her and take pictures of every silly little thing.
