ooc: Sorry about how long it is! And I'm gonna ask Twi to see how she feels about the spy organization hiring Thunder to save Rapid.
bic: While laying there unconscious, Rapid suffered a strange dream. It was different from his usual nightmares. In his dream Rapid found himself in the Dragon Lands. His eyes stung and he began coughing because of all the smoke that surrounded him. "What? How did I get way out here in the Dragon Lands? Is this a dream? Why would I dream about this place? It's not exactly a place I want to visit anytime soon," Rapid questioned as he carefully made his way through the rocky surface.
He was soon met with laughter coming from just ahead of him. "Hello? Is someone there?" he asked even though he was pretty sure he was only dreaming since the last thing he remembered was being tasered by the overzealous captain of the ever mysterious Crystal Empire. He definitely remembered losing consciousness soon after that. "Shhh..he hears you," hissed a voice in a hushed whisper. "No he hears you!" whispered another. "Quiet! He's coming this way," warned the first.
Rapid followed the voices only to be met by a pair of only all too familiar faces. It was his contacts: Jabber and Mothman. "Oh thank goodness, it's only you two! Oh wait, what are you two doing in my dreams and how did you even get in here to begin with?" Rapid asked suspiciously.
"Good question. one in which we'll only be all too happy to answer, but later. Now's not exactly the time for that," Mothman replied.
Rapid just looked at them both funny. "Um, o-kay," he answered, still suspicious, but unsure what to say given how evasive Mothman was being.
"But we can in the very least explain to you what it is we are doing here in your dream. We're here to warn you," the one called Jabber pointed out.
That certainly got Rapid's attention. "Warn me? About what? And why am I dreaming about the dragon lands? I definitely don't want to be here even in my dreams," Rapid reminded the two.
"Oh really? cause you kind of struck us as the fire and brimstone loving type," Jabber mused clearly confused.
Rapid raised a curious brow. "Huh? why would you think that?" he asked equally confused since he certainly did not see himself as a fire and brimstone lover in the least.
"No worries Mr. Quill we can change it! There that better?" asked Jabber and with a single snap of his hooves they were no longer in the dragon lands, but in the middle of a nice, relaxing beach surrounded by a cool, pleasant breeze.
Rapid's yellow eyes widened and he gasped from shock. If he didn't know any better he would have swore they were actually at the beach. "Y-es, but how did you do that? I mean how can you have the power to change the backgrounds in my dreams with just the snap of your hooves?" he asked definitely interested in how the two managed to pull this one off. He supposed it was possible they had unicorn help and/or a magical artifact in their possession giving them the ability. Still, something about this just didn't feel right to the blue unicorn.
"We have our ways Mr. Quill. Trust us. But enough about that. We're here to warn you of that overzealous captain that locked you up!" Mothman chimed in.
Rapid nodded. "Yeah he is pretty crabby and he does strike me as the type that has this thing about torturing prisoners! Wait, how did you two know that i'm a prisoner of the Empire?" asked Rapid, suspicion returning.
"Let's just say a little birdie told us and just in time too by the look of things. Now then listen very carefully because this next part is very important. When you wake up we need for you to escape with that notebook of yours," Jabber ordered walking towards Rapid.
"And no worries should you happen to fail to escape on your own. We'll just send a rescue party your way," Mothman once again chimed in.
"Yeah someone who wants to be the hero!" added Jabber thoughtfully.
Rapid just narrowed his eyes at the two. "What? But why? That doesn't make any sense! The captain might be moody, but he promised he would let me go after I face my punishment! and as for my notebook I suppose he might just remove the pages he doesn't want me to have before returning it to me. I think it's just best I face my punishment and get it over with and who knows, maybe the captain will respect that!" Rapid assured not only his contacts, but himself as well. His own self definitely needed the reassuring since he had his own doubts about the captain letting him go.
Both Mothman and Jabber began to circle him. "Oh Rapid, Rapid, Rapid don't be so naive! You honestly think that Captain Saber will let you go if you cooperate and obey him like a good little prisoner? Ha, that's a laugh! Well, I got news for you my friend, he won't! He'll keep you locked up in the dungeon forever only taking you out when he needs you for something!" Mothman sneered causing Rapid's fears to be realized.
Rapid's ears flattened as he unconsciously began to back away from the two. "What? No he wouldn't do that! You're lying! Why are you telling me all this? Why are you saying such horrible things to me?" he moaned getting scared. He wanted to run and he could go anywhere he pleased! This was his dream after all not theirs! But before he had the chance to flee, Mothman spoke up.
"Ugh, you told him wrong! You gotta put in the password first and then you give him the order second," Mothman reminded his partner.
"Oh right. thanks for the reminder. Almost forgot. Was wondering why it wasn't working."
That definitely caught Rapid's attention and he began to back away from the two again. "Password? Order? Um on second thought, I think that maybe I should..." He then turned and ran.
Grinning venomously, the two just followed. "Look Rapid, it's like we told you earlier. We'll talk, but later. For now you need to escape..." Mothman warned. "Would you kindly escape and retrieve the notebook for us?" Mothman ordered this time incorporating Rapid's trigger phrase that was programmed into the blue unicorn's mind forcing him to obey whoever says the phrase; which as one could only imagine tended to get very chaotic since there were outsiders that may use the phrase without realizing the effect it has on Rapid.
The fleeing Rapid stopped dead in his tracks as soon as his trigger phrase was spoken. Turning slowly around to face his contacts, Rapid's eyes just grew as he slowly remembered that he was indeed a spy and one of the best on the field. And that The Ponyville Express newspaper was secretly a spy organization that only a few of its employees knew about. The editor in chief received orders from those above him; those who remained hidden and unknown to just about everyone including Rapid. Only a select few knew who was giving Mind Blower his orders.
Rapid only stuck with this spy organization despite his many questions because he thought they were the good guys. They successfully tricked and manipulated him into thinking that everything he does for The Ponyville Express was for a good cause even if the deed seemed dirty and underhanded. This was easy for them to do since Rapid happened to be a firm believer in, the ends justifies the means. "My memories! They...they're all flooding back and at once! I remember everything quite clearly now. I just thought all of my memory lapses were due to a bad memory. I see now how wrong I was." There are entire events he cannot recall doing due to the simple fact he did them while in super spy mode. There are even ponies that he met while in this mode that he cannot remember any other time.
His contacts sneered. They loved it when their superiors' brainwashed spy got all confused. "Yes, yes it is all so very wonderful! Just remember Rapid we are only allowing you to have your memories back since your...training could certainly aid you in your escape!"
Rapid with all of his memories rounded on them. He jumped into his combative stance, horn glowing red. "Why did you two 'geniuses' send me out on this mission without my memories in the first place? That was certainly stupid and irresponsible of you! Your ignorance almost got me killed!" he scolded, infuriated at the two.
The two backed away. "Whoa, easy there Rapid! We certainly can understand your anger, but you can't blame us for this!"
"Sure I can! I can blame you and that stupid editor in chief of mine! If he hadn't threatened to fire me I wouldn't even be in this mess in the first place!" Rapid spat as he began to circle the two.
"If you really believe that then maybe you do need reprogramming!" Jabber retorted.
"Is that a threat? Coming from you?" Rapid shot back, his anger rising.
Mothman chose that moment to jump in between the two as though somehow shielding them from each other. "Enough you two!" Mothman hissed. Turning to his agitated partner in crime he whispered, "Look, we still need him, so let him be angry. He deserves it!" He then looked at both of them. "Now then would you two kindly put this whole mess behind us and make up? Please."
Annoyed, Rapid just rolled his eyes and his horn stopped glowing. "Fine."
"Great! That's the spirit Rapid! Now then will you kindly finish your mission without complaining when you wake up?" Mothman repeated.
Despite still not feeling completely right about all this, Rapid nodded, but that was only because he was brainwashed to obey those who say that phrase to him. "I guess so. but I still don't see how escaping is going to help things. I honestly just think it's going to make things a heck a lot worse! I mean they already know I'm a spy! They caught me red-hoofed spying on them and they have more than enough proof in my notebook! if I escape they'll just warn everyone about me and they will all keep a close look out for me making it a lot harder for me to move around in secret. What do you and your superiors plan to do about that?" a very reasonable and sensible Rapid reminded the two.
"He's got a point," Jabber reluctantly admitted.
"Don't worry Mr. Quill. Leave that to us. We know just how to fix it," Mothman assured the doubting blue unicorn.
"We do?" asked an equally confused Jabber.
"Yes, we do. Remember the thing with the thing?" Mothman reminded his forgetful partner with a wink.
"Oh right. Yeah we totally do," Jabber mused suddenly remembering what it was Mothman was referring to.
"Uhhhh...you guys aren't going to tell me what's up your sleeve, are you?" Rapid asked knowingly, realizing the two were far too evasive to tell him anything of true importance.
"Nope."
"Not a chance!"
Rapid just sighed. "Well so long as I don't have to get further involved than fine. I don't care, so long as you can fix it! So I don't have to go into hiding for the rest of my life! So how do I wake up?"
"Just wait for it. You'll wake up eventually!" Mothman informed him.
"Yeah, it's not like Captain Saber tased you enough to be in a coma for days on end or anything!" Jabber chimed in with his ever so helpful remark.
Rapid just rolled his eyes at that comment. "Great! I feel so much better now!"
However, a few minutes later, as promised, Rapid found himself returning to the waking world. Groaning, he used his free hoof to rub his head. After a quick look around at his surroundings, Rapid saw that he was now completely alone in his dark and dingy cell. He also discovered while trying to move that he was still chained up to the wall save for his one free hoof that his captors must have forgotten about. His mind whirled on what he should do.
First he used his free hoof to rub his sore neck. With gritted teeth he used his regained strength to pull on his collar in a desperate attempt to break it. "Come on. Come on. Break," he groaned in between breaths. He sat back panting when his collar wouldn't break. "Stupid collar!" After his collar refused to break, Rapid got on all four of his hooves and walked as far as his chains would allow him. When he could go no further, he gave his chains a quick, desperate tug. Using all of his might he tugged and pulled as hard as he could to no avail.
Pausing only for a few seconds to rest, he panted. "This isn't working. I need to try something else. There must be another way, a better way," Rapid informed himself. He didn't think anyone could hear him since it seemed he was the only prisoner; which only made him feel even lonelier. Not even the guards were around, so even attempting to trick a guard into releasing him was out of the question.
It certainly seemed he was trapped for the moment. His mind then returned to his previous dream where his contacts mentioned something about a rescue party. He wondered who it was they sent and if they were still coming and when. Grabbing his chains, he stubbornly tried yet again pulling at them.
