-Personality Stuff-
Likes: Baritone lives for the music, he can get behind any tune as long as it sounds good. Jazz is his passion but he cannot deny his love for most genres. Baritone also loves taking it easy and rather paradoxically, he also loves a rush. His music shows this, with some songs being slow and meaningful and others getting the room moving in mere seconds.
When Baritone tries working with a new genre, there are few thrills that can match when the sound just matches up. When the sound starts flowing perfectly together, Baritone couldn't be happier.
Dislikes: Baritone hates the idea that ponies can be boxed into one genre of music, music is for everypony and everypony should be able to enjoy music no matter what. Baritone hates arrogance when it comes to music, no artist should believe they are the best and that its only them that makes the music. He has fallen out with many artists because of this and generally doesn't get on with quite a few rock musicians where arrogance is more prominent.
Baritone believes inspiration comes from all around us and that each pony must make their own way in life. This has left him with mixed feelings about his younger brother Ruby, who idolizes Sapphire shores and wants nothing more to be like her. While he loves his brother, he cannot get over this fact and feels that Ruby needs to be his own pony before Baritone can respect him completely
Motivation:Baritone finds nothing more enjoyable than music, be it listening or playing. It's what he lives for. He can't go a day without music and he will never stop playing. He is constantly wanting to improve and revolutionist his sound. He also wants to break into new genres with a blend of his old sound and a mix of something new. Something that Baritone has wanted for awhile is for he and his brother to be as close as they once were, but he feels that they are too different now. There has always been resentment between them, he wants to try and change that but isn't sure how.
Strengths:There are few ponies in the entirety of the world that could play the sax better than Baritone. He can truly make audiences feel the music and loves nothing more than doing so. He also has a real talent for understanding and learning new ways of playing music, be it jazz or otherwise.
Beyond his mad sax skills, Baritone has a smooth deep voice that allows for some great singing. He prefers to bring life to a song with his horn but can be pressed to sing on occasion.
Weaknesses/Flaws:His one track mind of music leaves his social life very non-existent, he spends more time working on his music than with other ponies. Baritone is not the quickest pony to forgive, he can hold grudges and will still be slightly harsh to those he has even forgiven.
This constant work attitude means that Baritone neglects seeing his family and has recently fallen out of contact with them, while this does upset Baritone he keeps occupied with work. This neglect of his family means that he has never actually seen one of his brother's shows, although he isn't sure what he would think if he did see one.
Fears:Losing his passion for music and losing the ponies who actually stick around with him. Baritone fears most of all that he lost touch with the pony who he grew up with, his relationship with Ruby has always been something that Baritone wished he could go back and do differently.
Overall Persona:Baritone is one of the most modest and nicest ponies you will ever meet. Despite his claim as one of the most talented saxophone players there are, he really doesn’t let it go to his head and he always assures ponies that there is not 'best' in music. He is a kind hearted and nice pony to be around, however because of his constant working ponies rarely get a chance to be around him in such a manner. On stage, Baritone can be so many different ponies in one, he lets the song and the music take over and really plays his heart out. He can be a solemn blues playing pony, or a lively jazz playing pony. When he isn't working, he will probably be out at a concert or at home listening to music. He often tries out new sounds and genres while keeping his hooves firmly planted in Jazz and blues, he doesn't want to ever lose that part of his music but he has no issues with brining in something new. While not as famous as his sibling, he enjoys what fame he does have and truly appreciates his fans support and love. Overall, if you can get Baritone away from his work, you would be hard pressed to find a pony you could have a nicer time with. While still rocking out to some music of course.
(Quick History flashback)
It was a rainy Saturday morning, there was nothing to do and Baritone was really starting to get bored. He sat at the window looking out into the rain, watching his Saturday melt away as the rain pattered on the window. He sighed at looked around his room for something to do, for an 8 year old he might have had a lot of toys but he found no enjoyment in them at the moment. His parents were out at the moment so he decided to look around and find something to do. Their house wasn't that big, but it was big enough that there were places he had yet to explore yet. His first stop was his parent's room, he was rarely allowed in there and he was always curious of what he could find. After a few minutes of rooting around in their closet, he found something really cool.
Baritone had always known his mother played in a band, he had never known what she had played. Turns out that she played the saxophone, and Baritone had found her old one in the closet. Baritone just HAD to try it, he had been working on his magic recently so levitating the sax wasn't too much of a task. Baritone brought the instrument up to his lips, somehow he knew exactly how to position the reed in his mouth, he guessed he got the talent from his mother. As soon as he began attempting to play, he managed to get a note playing. It took some ponies weeks just to try and get a note out of this instrument and here was this young colt getting a powerful note out on his first try. He messed around with the sax for a few minutes, even manging to get a few notes to sound good together. Before too long the noise he was making attracted the attention of his younger brother Ruby, who was downstairs reading before Baritone distracted him.
"What are you doing Bari?"
"Ruby not now! I'm trying to play this thing."
Baritone had never really snapped at his brother before, something about the noise that this instrument made had Baritone's mind hooked. from that day on the brothers played less and less, and by the age of 16 Baritone had all but left his little brother behind.
