-Personality Stuff-
Likes:
Peace and quiet - Dread Lock has always been quiet in nature, even his hoof steps are silent. As such he enjoys tranquility and quiet. Not to say cannot handle noise or chaos, but he has a preference to not having too much of those things.
Watching - Observing other ponies as they go about their day or try and solve their problems is very interesting to Dread Lock, also because of his lack of friends or social standing its the only thing that gets him into Ponyville. It helps him try and understand things better, and understanding things is what Dread believes to be the most important of pursuits in terms of the mind.
Music - While he enjoys quiet, Dread Lock cannot deny he has a small passion for music and plays some every so often while at home. He often finds himself humming a tune to as he walks, although quietly in his usual way.
Night time - Dread Lock never feels more at home than when sitting outside of his home looking up into the night sky. It's what truly makes him believe he belongs on this world, he spends a good few hours at the end of the day just watching the stars in the sky. The reason Dread does this is because is often feels different due to his dark coat and mane, yet when he looks up at the beauty of the night sky it makes him feel that there can be beauty in the darkness.
Dislikes:
Seeing others hurt - Dread Lock doesn't know why, but when he see's other ponies in pain or in real trouble. He cannot help but want to do something, however his social skills or lack thereof may get in the way of him actually doing something or being of much help.
Ignorance - If there is one pet peeve of Dread Locks its when a pony makes a judgement on somepony without knowing all there is to know. It doesn't anger him, but more so confuses him. He cannot fathom making a decision or judgement without all the facts, despite being guilty of this himself.
Crowds - Dread Lock is uncomfortable in large groups of Ponies, he always has been for as long as he can remember. When he finds himself in a crowd he gets very nervous and uncomfortable, as such he has missed many important events in Ponyville.
Motivation: Dread Lock has no friends, family and very few ponies are aware that he even exists. This is due to him very rarely visiting Ponyville, and never really being seen when he does so. Despite all this, Dread Lock is certain that he belongs in Equestria and is determined to find his place and the ponies that will accept him in it. He will not give up in this task and the way he goes about it is just living his day to day life until he can find his place.
Strengths:
Thinker - Dread Lock is a intelligent pony, he will always observe situations and learn from them when he can and prefers it to being part of the situation, however he is not perfect and like most intelligent ponies he can be incredibly dense in some situations. More so than usual due to the nature of his observations in the first place.
Out going - Dread Lock is trying to find a place he feels at home and as such is open to meeting new ponies and seeing new places, even though he has some difficulty with it.
Well spoken - Being an author, Dread has a great mastery of the Equestrian language. He uses eloquent words and complex synonyms that sometimes other ponies confused as to what he said, sadly he often fails to realize this.
Well Read - Dread Lock has taken to reading as many books as possible for a few reasons, one being to better understand the world around him. Another would be that he tries to understand social graces, as such Dread has read many books on many varying subjects and is well versed on most things one might expect to come across in life. Sadly knowing something and applying your knowledge of it are different things and Dread can sometimes not be the best at that latter part.
Weaknesses/Flaws:
Socially awkward - While Dread Lock would love to be able to easily fit in with other ponies, he has always found himself uncomfortable in large social situations and hates being put on the spotlight in such situations.
Lack Of Social Skills - Lack of experience and his own social awkwardness has left Dread Lock without any real social skills. He understands some social protocols but he can be rude or inappropriate without any intention or knowledge that he is doing so. He never does such things with ill intent, quite the opposite, sadly misunderstands can be common.
Cold natured - Dread Lock often has a cold tone and attitude about him, it directly holds back his true intentions and he cannot seem to understand why some ponies take a disliking to him.
Fears: The biggest fear that Dread has is that he isn't normal, he wants to fit in and have friends and a family like he see's others. The smiles and laughter resonate with him yet he confounds his mind to try and understand them himself, he wants to feel what they feel and fears that he maybe cannot.
Hypocrite - Perhaps Dread Locks biggest flaw is his hypocrisy. He often dislikes things that others do yet can be guilty of them himself, he often makes judgements of ponies when he meets them, although never in a negative way he still does it. He does however realize what he is doing, although he cannot say it in so many words but he is trying to work on understanding why he does it and stopping it.
Overall Persona: Dread Lock has one key feature that set him apart from all other ponies, and that is he has little to no emotion. An event happened awhile back which he cannot recall, nor can he recall anything before that event. It left him without any emotion in his heart, no happiness, sorrow, anger, nothing. As such Dread spends a lot of his time trying to figure out what he feels means. Trying to understand other ponies is probably the thing that gives him the biggest headache, and frankly yes a tough time of any emotional or social situation.
This lack of emotion has lead to a mixed over all personality. He wants to find a place in the world he can call his own, which leaves him with good intentions in his heart. However his lack of social experience and general attitude means he can ruin his own chances at finding a place and alienates other ponies inadvertently. Dread has always been a deep thinker, ever since he was a young colt and he was trying to figure out things about himself. As such he is often lost in deep thought, trying to understand the world and ponies around him. Working as an author to make ends meet, Dread lock never really found any passion in it but still makes a living doing so and some of his books may pop up in a library somewhere, all be it under some other ponies name. His thin stature does not stop him from standing straight and retaining his large imposing height. This stance easily makes his visible from other ponies, as if his odd mane and cutie mark weren't enough to do that. He speaks with a quiet tone, little to no emotion can be heard in his voice and he sounds cold because of it. He is quite the receded pony, wanting to try and interact more but sometimes not having the patience or any idea on how to be so. Of course Dread is not perfect, he has negative thoughts and he can be mean but for the most part is a nice if slightly overly formal pony to be around.
Dread is an optimistic sort, he believes that he can learn emotion. Deep within him, he is still a pony and still naturally friendly. He has trouble expressing himself but still has good intentions in his heart, he wants a good life and he gets up every day with intentions to make it happen. He doens't resign himself to his cold nature or lack of emotion, he never asks for sympathy nor feels sorry for himself to the point that he would be considered dark. He pushes himself forward to make a good life happen, he knows that whatever may be out there, it doesn't come without some work put in. His efforts may backfire, he may not learn what he needs to but that will never stop him. He's naive and may not have emotion or even understand it, but he will never stop trying because he can see what it is and an understand that it makes ponies have some kind of... Well he cannot put it into words himself but he knows it's something he wants.
