Motivation: He wants to be an astronaut, like his grandfather used to be. He has daydreams of flying through space and exploring new planets.
Strengths: StarShine is a good listener, always taking the time to listen to someone's problems. He is a brave and loyal friend dedicated to his job. StarShine never hesitates to help someone when they need it.
Weaknesses/Flaws: When he doesn't get enough sleep, StarShine becomes grumpy and short-tempered. Also, he tends to get unusually stressed out whenever he only has a few days to get something done. And for the love of Celestia, don't. Touch. His. Telescope. Without permission.
Fears: Heights, Spiders, Ursa Majors, Water (Except drinking water)
Overall Persona: As a foal, StarShine was inquisitive and curious. He had an almost reckless personality, which he may have gotten from his father, but a kind nature, most likely from his mother. Whenever he was angry, StarShine usually perferred to be left alone untill he could cool off. He also loved his family more then anything (And still does). He did his best to be perfect for them and not be a disappointing son.
As a teenager, StarShine has matured both in mental and physical growth. He's more cynical about the world around him, but he's not a complete pessimest. While he has his snarky moments, he's mostly serious. He also has formed an attachment to his stargazing equipment, like his telescope, quills, and parchment. StarShine doesn't take too kindly to his stuff being stolen or hidden, so if you do either of those, watch out!
However, StarShine does have a soft spot for foals and will sometimes let them borrow parchment and quills. If the foal in question is polite, they can look through his telescope. And if they need advice or information about space related subjects, he's one of the ponies they can go to. StarShine likes talking to foals, and will sometimes ramble on about the subject at hand for a while, to the point where he loses track of time.
Bio: StarShine was born in Trottingham to his parents, Meteor Shower and Meteor Spectre. His parents were very kind to him and taught him all about Princesses Celestia and Luna, and the six Elements of Harmony. Young StarShine would always listen in awe as his grandpa told stories of outer space and the mysteries surrounding it. He was curious...sometimes a little too so. One day, when him and his parents were vacationing at the beach, StarShine saw a foal in the water that looked just like him!
He didn't know he was looking at his reflection, so when he tried to peer closer at it, he slipped. Luckily, he was in shallow water, so he was fine. But that brief moment of being in a cold wet place, unable to breathe stayed with him in his nightmares. From that point on, he feared water in general. Well, except drinking water.
Another time was when he asked where babies came from. After an awkward silence and a hushed conversation between Mom and Dad, they told him the stork story that every child gets at that age. Naturally, this lead to StarShine asking what a stork was. When they told him it was a type of bird, he asked how many types of birds there were. This continued for a few minutes until StarShine's bedtime.
When he was eight years old, his mother gave birth to his little brother, SparkleSqueak. StarShine initially thought of him as a nuisance, and a competitor for his mother and father's attention. But as time went on, the two formed a strong bond. StarShine was always there to help SparkleSqueak with homework problems, and SparkleSqueak was StarShine's partner when they were cleaning the house. But the memory that neither will ever forget was when they sat in the backyard and watched the stars.
StarShine viewed his brother in a different light that night. SparkleSqueak was no longer a pest or a problem. He was his brother.
Eight years later, he was attending college (During which he obtained his cutie mark, a shooting star) when he recieved a letter from Ponyville University. The letter said that they were looking for somepony to qualify for a special job: Constellation Recording. This was a job where a pony studied the stars, noted any new constellations in the sky, and sent information about it to the University. StarShine accepted, and set off on his journey after saying goodbye to his mom, dad, and brother. Before he left, he promised he would see them again.
After arriving in Ponyville and being greeted by the Mayor, he began his new job. That was a few weeks ago. Now, his adventures begin...
