The sun shone high in the sky, though it struggled to pierce through the dense thicket of the Everfree forest. It was peaceful in the wild natural environment, just enough light crept through the canopy to make it a very beautiful place to be. It was summer, soft grass grew on every patch of soil that wasn't occupied by plant life. During the day, the dreaded forest that ponies feared was actually somewhat of a Eden. This is the reason that it continued to attract A'bek to it's shade, he loved it. Despite the obvious danger of wild life and plant life, the goat found pony life far too artificial. The sun was controlled, the weather was controlled, even wild life was kept at bay. Every so often in his travels around Equestria, he felt the need to return to the forest. It was a bastion for him, he enjoyed walking through the footpaths that animals had carved out.
Standing, next to a small stream and watching the water trickle down it's moss covered rocky path. Smiling softly as he took in the sights, the break in the leaves above allowed a bright sunlight through. The small pitter patter of the stream on the rocks, the light rustle of the wind as it moved through the forest. With a relaxed sigh, A'bek scanned his gaze around for a moment. He decided to move on, he needed to be proactive. He was a bit of a novice potion maker, he could make curatives and remedies that were fairly uncommon in these parts. It was his way of making a few bits, not that he cared much or had much need for such things but in the modern world it seemed that you'd be foolish not to have some money to kick around with.
He walked along the streams edge as he knew that the herb he needed grew near water, though it was annoyingly scarce. Another frustrating point to this journey was that he was approaching a very dense area of the forest, tree's closely knit together with plenty of smaller plants like thistles and thorny vines grew and wrapped around the trees. Now for a pony this would merely be a little painful and a bit of a struggle, but for A'bek it would take a lot of effort to get through this mess, plus his fur would catch on the thorns and either get pulled out or pull the thorns with it. He could just use his druidic powers to move the plants but he did not like to force nature to his will if he didn't really have to, this wasn't a matter of respect to the plants as it did not harm them, he was just stubborn about needing help.
He pushed through the dense thicket, moving through the plants with a struggle. Every so often he felt his fur catch on something and had to push forward with a thrust of movement, which often ending in a painful loss of some hairs. Still he pressed forward, having more strength than you'd want to trifle with. However it was just as he saw a clearing that he felt more fur get caught, looking back he saw that he was pretty entwined. Gritting himself, he surged forward and felt the vines pulled back. Pushing more and more, he felt each hair as it was plucked from his body, letting out a cry of pain and anger as he gave one final pushed and erupted into the clearing. He was covered in thorns, much to the irony of his name. He however hadn't noticed that this rather intimidating display had be viewed by someone else who was present in this clearing.
