The air was freezing and Raven Feather could feel the ice crystals forming on her hair as the wetness was exposed to the cool breeze. Her teeth were chattering, and wading through the murky water took every ounce of effort for her. The adrenaline was wearing out, and Raven could no longer feel her limbs anymore. The cold had numbed all feeling in her muscles. She still moved them through the water, like phantom limbs unaware that they are no longer attached to a body.
Finally, her hoof reached up and outwards to catch Silk Suture and she clambered to the edge, help from Silk much appreciated. She came out and collapsed at his hooves, coughing up any liquid that got into her lungs. She was shivering uncontrollably, pink shading the tip of her nose - more noticeable because she was silver coloured as opposed to a darker shade.
She couldn't speak. Every word that tried to escape from her mouth was caught by a choking cough. Mane and tail lay limp and glistening wet against her body. She needed to get dry and warm. The cold wasn't going to do her any good, and it was a shame she had forgotten to pick up her cloak. Her wings were still wrapped up tightly against her body, the pain that was in her wound no longer prominent but numbed.
All she could do now was follow in Silks lead and motions.
Once again, she had done a crazy thing. What other way was there? It was a matter of life and death.
"Silk…" she managed finally, shivering in her place by Silk Suture. "Did it work…?" Her mind was fuzzy, and she wasn't even sure if the plant had come after her. She was losing focus on her surroundings, dizzy from the aftershock of everything.
