Rainbow Dash felt weird knowing that the Elements were nowhere near her and her friends, and it still felt even weirder to know her friend was a princess. She wasn't sure why it was so odd, the other princesses were somewhat friends as well, but knowing it was Twilight just rubbed her the wrong way. She had decided the day was perfect for flying—well, more than usual—and had positioned the clouds just so. The park was pretty clear today, ponies still a bit miffed about Discord and the vines, so she had decided it was the best place to practice.
The sun was shining, only a few clouds were in the sky, and the breeze was perfect. Dash nudged a few clouds into a starting and finishing line, then nodded with a smile. It was perfect. She positioned her wings like she was getting ready for a race, hunched down in her starting position, and breathed out slowly. At her own count-off, she sped off towards the sky, spiraling and laughing. The wind whistled in her ears, which were pinned back against her head, and her eyes were squinted tightly. Then, in a split second, she changed directions towards a few clouds drifting off a while away. She burst through them like a ping pong ball against paddles, smirking and breathing in the freezing cold mist of the broken clouds.
Suddenly, her wing cramped, and she tumbled towards the ground. She hated when that happened. Soon she was spiraling at a near-sound speed, though she could only break the barrier if she was truly trying to fly at it. The ground came closer and closer, and the blue pegasus crashed straight into a pile of crates nearby a bat winged pony. She popped back up quickly and bent her wing back to her side, her face redder than Discord's evil eyes. She looked around at the carnage and chuckled, finally taking note of the mare in front of her.
Heh, uh sorry. I guess I need to be more careful where I land.
She was still chuckling, rubbing a hoof against her neck. Her mane seemed perfectly fine though, probably only because it was spiky anyways. Her eyes darted to the surprising features of the mare, such as the wings and eyes, and quickly stopped herself from saying anything...at the moment. She was still chuckling at the crash landing she had accidentally formed, as it was her go-to response to any mistake she made. It made her feel less self-conscious and embarrassed of the problem, though she was sure that it was still quite noticeable to the recipient of the mistake she had created.
