Midnight Meeting of Villainous Past (Nimbus) [Concluded]

As the guard hit the ground it became apparent he was waking up, the sky began to crack like a snowglobe, the castle started to warp and things started to fade into a state of collapse, all the while the guard remained static in a sprawl on the guard tower

Suddenly Luna and Discord were back in the lower part of the tower, where they were before, only to hear one guard screaming from the upper section and the clatter of the other guard up there becoming alert to the fact the other guard seemed to think the princesses were in danger and that the "paint splats" had attacked the sky, not only that but apparently luna and discord were literally "right there", trying to alert the guard to one cloud in the sky, and the surrounding area.

The other guard, not believing a word clearly, very militantly explained to the guard that he was right there the whole time, and he had clearly been asleep, ironic coming from a guard who was also slacking, but he obviously thought he was somehow in the right for not being asleep. Soon the argument reached a point where the lesser-tired guard was starting to question the other one's ability to be a guard due to him apparently "Losing his mind"

Luna, thinking this was all too much punishment, not feeling bad for what she did however, conjured a quill and parchment, and began writing a message down, clearly to the guards above, as not to look suspicious by actually just turning up there all of a sudden after being accused of being "Literally right there".

"Just a moment Discord, I feel like we need to debunk ourselves in this situation"

The princess said, as she started to scribble down a letter...

...The message read

Dear guards of the watch

It has come to my attention, through one means or another, that some of my personal guards, have been sleeping

or otherwise slacking on the job. While I have no doubt in my mind that you, my loyal guards are able to do your 

job properly, I advise you to not sleep on the job when your princess has the ability to see, enter and otherwise 

manipulate dreams while on her dream watch. It is therefore recommended that guards do not sleep on duty.

I do not expect this will happen again

While there were somewhat angry, or more to the point passive aggressive tones to this letter, all she wanted was to cover her and Discord, as it was only so long before this guard they had been messing with convinced someone to come looking with him, alternatively she saw the harmless fun potentially causing an argument in her ranks, which would, of course been bad, as she would have had to deal with it, as the guards are as much royal affairs as anything else it regarding her personal guard.

Luna's mind began to wander, she perhaps thought that they had been toying with the guards for a while, and there was only so funny pranking the guards could be, that, and Celestia was in her bed, not to be disturbed until sunrise when she, herself would be raising the sun.

She perhaps considered the idea of causing some harmless chaos elsewhere in the castle. Given she felt a little put off messing with the guards after feeling she had to deal with the debating guards above, who had now quietened upon receiving her letter, and had begun keeping a vigilant watch once again.

She considered perhaps they could mess with someone else in the castle, someone they hadn't yet, perhaps, in the gardens, the gardeners sometimes did some work at night, that was an idea, she thought.

She was able to transport them to the grounds, the gardens of the castle, obviously out of sight where no one would see them. A few gardeners were around the mazes and sculptures, cleaning them up, tidying and trimming for the morning, it was done in shifts, so more gardeners came out at night to do some of the more complicated work when there were less ponies around to perhaps disrupt them.

Luna, looking at Discord, feeling perhaps this was too easy, looked for some kind of approval

"Sorry that was so sudden, but I felt that we had reached our limits with the guards, the tension was getting somewhat high there, and I'd rather avoid that within my guards, so, how about it? mess with the gardeners? Unless you can think of something else, I foresee this being rather entertaining myself"

As the dream faded into reality and the colour faded away into the real night, Discord set into a more nonchalant pose, setting his hands into a set of pockets that seemed to come out of nowhere. That all felt like a lesson, something Discord was never a fan of, but he was learning to tolerate them, but who really liked learning lessons...oh forget Twilight for a moment!! Discord didn't mind so much, mainly because it was for Luna's benefit, while he may be the master of chaos, he appreciated the chaos that must come into organizing a land like Equestria. Then again, normality was quite boring, but you had to let the ponies have something, normality may as well be as good as any other thing, there was no point trying to explain perspective to them. Discord liked ponies however, he preferred being the stranger in a strange land as opposed to being just another drop in the ocean, what was chaotic about that?

Now that they were out of the dream however, Discord hoped they could move onto something a little more fun, which is why his eyes took on a slightly annoyed look, top eye lids closed over half of his eye when he saw the parchment and quill. What was it with ponies and writing with paper and ink? Discord hated sending letters, but you'd think those that did would be a bit more fun with it, write in cotton candy or something? But ponies and their normality and all that, to this day Discord didn't know how something like normality could exist, it was like everyone sat down and agreed to be boring. Oh well, at least Discord was there to make a concerted effort to make things fun and unpredictable, and these days he wasn't doing it at the expense of everyone else. He just let Luna do her thing, keeping track of her guards, while he simple waited around, how boring.

As they were teleported to somewhere new, Discord floated into the air again, spinning his head around (without spinning any other part of his body around) to get a view of the area. He then turned back to Luna as she began speaking, raising an eyebrow at what she said for a moment before chuckling.

"You make the gardeners work at night? Seems like a bit of a strange, its it just some sort of cold move to make it so they never get to see their flowers bloom?" Discord laughed "Well, plant life has always been quite a fun little tool, however I think I should set you a challenge. I myself need no tools to create chaos" Discord reached up and took his head of from his neck, and threw it away, before it flew back over from behind him and landed back on his head "You ought to try and create a little chaos without bringing the flowers to life, you need to bring a little chaos from no where with that little horn of yours" Discord gave a little tap on the tip of Luna's horn with a laugh "If you can do that, then you'll be your own little master of Chaos" With another little chuckle, Discord curled into a ball and disappeared from sight, leaving Luna to her own devices, waiting to see what she might do.

Luna, puzzled by Discord asking about the gardeners working at night wanted to make sure that he was aware of a few things regarding it

"Oh no, they aren't made to work at night, they choose to, as they prefer to rest little, and enjoy their days. The way they see it, they'd rather not work in the sun"

That out of the way, she heard Discord's challenge, to create some chaos, rather than manipulating her surroundings, to her the concept was rather alien, not conjuring smaller items or anything, but more to the point of creating chaos, something she was no expert in doing. Her magic was more than often just used for matters of dreamwalking and looking after the night.

She sat for a few moments, a ponderous gaze looking over the "playground" ahead of her, she thought about all the things she could do, in her mind, she was trying to think as discord would, but then she realised the futility of that logic because discord is chaos, and chaos follows no pattern or order, chaos just happens

The it hit her, a spark of magic flew from her horn and seemed to flicker into the tall grass and hedges, all over, doing nothing at first, for a time, until the gardeners returned to trimming that area...

Without warning, when they cut away at the grass, it popped, sending little flakes of confetti and a rather loud, audible popping sound, but this wasn't just once, it was every time a blade was cut, or a leaf hit the floor, the guards, seemingly doing this in "auto pilot" as it was pretty autonomous to cut a bush, jumped rather far away with a yelp, knocking into the gardener pushing a small grass cutter, which also popped, sending both flying. Luna, seizing the opportunity enchanted the grass cutter to continue on its own, creating a trail of confetti and popping that seemed to panic all the gardeners and sent some guards rushing over to look at what the commotion was.

Luna made herself invisible at this point, and then she cast the same spell she had done to the grass and leaves to the guard's boots, so that each step resulted in a pop and confetti, the guards, not understanding what was happening looked panicked, trying to run away, only to topple over under the force (however small it was) of the popping coming from their boots every step. Luna tried not to laugh at her own creation too much, as to give away their position as the grass cutter continued madly on around the area, the gardeners and the patrolling guards, now on the floor were in a state of confusion.

The guards, looking frustrated that every time they tried to get up were greeted with a pop under their hooves, started, to, seemingly sulk. Luna immediately reacted, conjuring a small raincloud over them, at this point they looked rather annoyed and tried to make their escape, the dark cloud following them along with their small "pops" as they ran indoors.

The gardeners had begun to recuperate, getting up, and picking up their utensils, however the rogue grass cutter was still on the loose, and the pony who was responsible was now running around after it, heading directly for what looked like a mud puddle. Luna took the initiative again and did something to the puddle, which became evident as the pony stepped, well, fell into it, she had made a muddy patch into a rather deep mud puddle that the pristine white gardening pony had now just fallen into, and was climbing out of looking completely ridiculous.

Luna said to the open air, given she had no idea where Discord had gone

"Well? Was that any better? I must say making things happen out of thin air is... harder than I may have suspected. I'm not really used to it, how do you do it? Well, aside from it being in your nature, Discord?"

In truth she had found it hard, harder than she had thought, it must be that she is not as used to chaos as someone like Discord, her magic seemed to be all about order and maintaining the balance, being as she took care of the night and dreams, as a result it became very hard for her to go against what she had practiced for so long.

After Luna's confetti based carnage had been wrought, and she spoke to nothing, the was a slight shuffling noise from behind her. From a shrubbery, there came a little plant pot, it seemed to move at first, but there was a period of silence to make her think that she was just imagining things. When the little plant pot then hopped toward her slightly, rather awkwardly in fact as nothing happened for a moment after that. The plant pot then rotated around, revealing Discord's face on the clay pot, smiling back at the princess of the night.

"Most impressive my dear, the confetti was a nice touch"

A little plant shoot sprouted up from the soil in the pot, before rapidly growing, rising from the dirt. The plant took an odd shape, it was like a vine, growing thicker and thicker while various leaves dotted around it. The plant began changing colour, and before you knew what had happened, the plant had grown into Discord, a quick glance confirmed that the face on the planting pot had disappeared, as Discord had reemerged.

"How do I do what I do?" Discord asked it in the way that made it seem like the biggest question in the world, breathing out through his lips to emphasize it. "Its just who I am, I'm a being of chaos...it's just what I do" Discord laughed with a click of his fingers.

At that moment, select pieces of the confetti that littered the ground sank into the soil beneath the grass. In an instant, large trees shot up around various points in the garden, they were bare at the moment however. However then with another click, the branches of the tree's spouted out, but instead of leaves, it was multi coloured confetti. The confetti trees blew softly in the night wind, with pieces blowing off, with all the confetti on the ground it looked like an autumn scene...of confetti.

"My entire purpose is chaos, you should know that from back in the day" Discord chuckled, referencing the now thousand year old battle between him and the two princesses, when they ended his reign. "I'm sure I'd have trouble making a night sky as beautiful as yours" Discord looked up at the night sky "The same way that you have trouble with chaos, we all have our alloted talents" Discord laughed "As for how I do it, I suppose I hold no ties to what you may consider normal, why should the sky be blue or why should it rain water? I can't come up with any good reasons for those questions...in fact thats not strictly true, I don't work in reasons"

with another little chuckle Discord took afloat and with a wink all the magically conjured trees disappeared, then the confetti on the ground began swirling around, as if caught in a vortex. The confetti turned to a bright coluti coloured dust, or powder as it swirled around the garden. Then, is a sort of cone vortex, taking to the air as it shot around the garden in a colourful stream. The stream of dust then few toward the duo, before rocketing straight up into the air and then shot down into a glass of milk that Discord was holding nonchalantly. Quick mixing the milk with a spoon, the liquid took on a multi coloured tone, with the colours moving around the glass, as if powered by some unseen flow. Discord then quickly downed the beverage, finishing it off with an 'mmm'. However an instant after, Discord went wide eyed before opening his mouth and burping out a giant burst of multi coloured flame.
"Oooh..how cheeky" He laughed.

Luna listened very carefully to Discord explaining his being, and in a way she could relate, yes, she was princess of the night, yes it was her duty, her talent and ultimately her purpose, however there really was not reason she was good at what she did, other than it has always been known to be her destiny to do this, and all she has ever known is that this was something she was meant to do. Of course, she had to fine tune her natural ability, and then there were times when it was hard to come to terms with what her duty meant. As is known by most, her past reveals just how hard it was to do what she did at times, as she gave in to envy, anger and jealousy that her subjects would enjoy her sister's time of day, and rest in hers, it became apparent to her that she didn't fully understand at the time that her job was enjoyed just as much, and was just as important, without sleep the ponies could not rest, without the night the nocturnal animals couldn't come out.

Having thought about this, and hearing Discord mention that her job can't be easy either, she felt the need to elaborate

"The night sky is something of an art, as I imagine chaos is to you, it's taken me years to refine my talent, and to me the sky is but a blank canvas, a great void through which great beauty can be created, and the deeper you look, the more you find"

As she was talking, her horn glowed the same colour as the moonlight, and a few falling stars could be seen across the sky as she spoke, all arrays of colours, stars now and then started appearing in the sky, as Luna looked across the sky

"I suppose I can't really explain my power either, all I know is I've always been connected with the night, the stars, right down to my name, in the same way your name is Discord."

She pondered this conversation, she never really had given her power's purpose, as in, why her, much thought. It had always been that way and it always would, and she assume it was the same for him, simply being, but being for a purpose.

She found discussing this interesting, and it left her feeling happier than she knew a little more about Discord, and perhaps he had taken something away from this little conversation too, she knew she had, given she never thought about this, other than when she is alone to her thoughts.

Luna, realising she had turned the conversation rather serious, she fast thought about what they could do to change the somewhat seriousness.

"On a lighter note, what say you about having a little fun with the castle staff some more? Wherever you want to go"

Discord sighed at Luna's words, she didn't yet seem to understand that it was her choice. In fact to emphasize his feeling on the matter, he placed his elbow in one hand, and places his face in his other hand, face palming at the princess' words. However, his hand sank into his face, as if he were slowly applying pressure to a sponge. His hand continued to sink into his face slowly, before his hand shot through his face, pulling the face with it, in this instant, Discord pushed his face through, taking his body and turning him completely inside out with a little spin. Ending the little weird display that lasted a few seconds in the same position and pose he had started in, Discord just looked at Luna with a little smirk.

"Oh fine, I suppose if I must chose somewhere, I will" Discord then rubbed his chin thoughtfully, once again supporting his elbow in one hand as he did so.

The lord of disharmony looked around for inspiration, but the truth was that he didn't yet fully know the layout of the castle, the place was too big for its own good. With a sigh Discord shook his head, he no longer had a smile on his face, but a sort of hopeless look.

"I think this night has expended its possibilities in this castle of yours" Discord turned his gaze to the sky once more, and suddenly and idea struck him. Slowly bringing his gaze back to Luna, looking at her seriously for a moment. "Maybe..we should go somewhere that only beings such as ourselves can go...somewhere that you should face once more" Raising his hand, his finger pressed against his thumb, ready to click.

The quick poof of smoke that enveloped the two obscured their view for a moment, where ever they were, it was cold, and silent. Slowly but surely as the smoke faded, it became apparent where they were, the pitch black sky around them, the white solid rock beneath them...the earth...so far away. They were on the moon..

Discord said nothing, he didn't dare, he knew what this might do to Luna. However he just looked silently on at her, and then turned to look back at the earth, it looked so far away. The cold desolate nature of the moon was an odd comfort to Discord, he wasn't sure why, just a nice place to be he supposed.

"Welcome to your moon Luna..or welcome back I should say"

When the smoke cleared, Luna's mind was suddenly at a standstill, in fact, to her it felt like time itself was standing still, she just gazed at the emptiness, wide eyed, not knowing what to say for a fair few seconds, there were emotions flooding back, the anger, pain, loneliness, but some kind of closure out of being here by somewhat of a choice, well, at least not on bad terms. She tried to speak again, but no sound was coming out, and that wasn't an effect of the moon, she just couldn't say a word for those first few moments

"...I never thought I..."

she uttered in a very, quiet and subdued tone.

"...would be back here"

She stuttered, gazing across the landscape of grey, she remembered this all too well, her first instinct was to demand Discord took them back, that was the part of her that feared this place, the other parts of her wanted to stay a while, to walk along the same paths, remember what it was like and be humbled by it...

She looked around, catching Discord's gaze only for a moment, but she was sure that the look in her eyes told him all he needed to know about that place. Luna looked at Discord, as if to say to follow her, and began walking.

The walk was a silent one, Luna really wasn't sure how to handle what was happening, she was so emotional that it came through as blank emotion, she had too many conflicting feelings at once to convey just one.

They had arrived at their destination, a small cliff-like area, heavily trodden with hoofprints, from the highest point you looked straight out at the earth, at equestria, right now

"This is where I came so often, just to look, look at what I was missing, to dwell though, in the anger that caused my imprisonment. I would stand here for hours, plotting that day when the stars aided in my escape and I was finally free. I thought I'd never be here again Discord, never."

She took a moment to look out again, a single, small tear rolled down her cheek and into the dusty grey sand-like ground. She wasn't about to cry but some memories are just too painful.

She turned around to Discord, wanting to talk about this

"Not that I hold it against you, but why bring me here? I don't quite understand why you would bring me to the one place I swore to myself never to go again, I could never have brought myself to come back"

Luna still felt so conflicted, she really hated being here, but the feeling of peace, closure and some kind of triumph were felt among the spikes of anger, confusion, sadness and all the familiar feelings of being alone for so long, away from those she held most dear, despite how jealousy-consumed she had become leading up to her exile. The vastness of space, the grey wastes and the black abyss certainly put fear into her heart, it was truly maddening for her when she could not leave. To here there was a cruel irony. This black, dark abyss is seen from her home as her canvas to make a beautiful night sky, but to be up here, among her creations, is a feeling of loneliness and dread. To her it seemed to be the ultimate punishment, to exile her into her own domain. It was all rather strange for her, and she didn't like how conflicted, but uncomfortably comforted the solitude of her past prison felt.

Following Luna silently, Discord floated along lake a snake in water, even on the moon he bended what little reality existed up here. When they got to the cliff, Discord looked around at the moment, the moon's lack of...well anything, meant that everything was frozen in time, any step she would have taken over the thousand years that she was here would be preserved. His attention then turned to the world, the view from here was quite clear, he could even make out Equestria from here, although that was because he had turned his eyes into telescopes. Putting the end of the scopes back into his head, Discord blinked and his regular yellow eyes were back, he shook his head slightly before looking down at the princess. As she spoke, Discord lowered down toward the ground, landing silently on his two mismatched feet. At her question, Discord simply smiled, he wanted to teach her a lesson that Fluttershy had taught him.

"My dear princess of the night, your own moon holds such bad memories for you" Discord smiled, looking out over the bleak white landscape of the moon, he noticed footprints leading around the place, seemed Luna wandered and paced a lot in her exile. "This place while very...one toned, is your past, even before you were banished here. That's not something you can escape from, it would be like trying...well to escape from the moon...hm, what an apt situation." Discord sort of trailed off in thought before realizing that he had zoned out.

"I appreciate that it is hard to forget, being here so long, and it being all you think of when you see it. It's your duty to raise the sun, why would you let it bring back bad memories each night?" Discord was curious about this, why would you want that "It's like sleeping on a pillow that makes you miserable, but never doing anything about it...I wonder what the pillow did...ah anyway" Discord looked at Luna for a moment with a smile "The dust may hold your past" he mentioned, looking down at the hoof prints in the dust. He then held out his hand and blew toward the dust, which kicked up a wind far more powerful than he was blowing. The dust blew away, clearing away the hoof prints of Nightmare moon. The dust then reformed into a crude picture of Discord and Luna happy and smiling, as if someone had drawn it in the dust with their finger "But the dust can always be blown away...except up here...because there's no wind, so I had to blow...but you get my point" Discord laughed, hoping he had cheered up Luna somewhat, or at the very least justified bringing her here.

Luna's mood altered as Discord spoke, he was right, it was her job to take care of her own duties, and that which she must see to rise every night shouldn't be fraught with bad memories and pain, then Discord blew away the prints she had made so many years ago over and over, and in their place was this little portrait, which touched Luna, she completely understood why Discord brought her here. In her eyes it was to get her to confront her past, move on and forget the pain, the lament and the feeling that she was raising her once-prison into the night sky every night.

In a way, this surprised Luna, as she saw Discord as a chaotic, fun loving free spirit, now without the risk of turning her and her sister's kingdom to pandemonium. This moment showed something else, that despite all of this, inside the chaos, the silliness, and the fun was a kind heart, one that did genuinely care about things, that isn't to say Luna had assumed him heartless, but just not this caring.

"You're right, Discord, my past is just that, the past, it is gone, over, done with. Like dust it can be blown away, but that dust doesn't hold my future, that's what I should really be looking at, that's what matters. I may know where I've been, but there's no telling where I'm going in the future. The moon is a thing of beauty and all I've been seeing it as since I escaped is a shrine to my jealousy, a jealousy that separated me from my dear sister and subjects"

She gazed out over the grey expanse, out into the darkness of space and down at the earth

"My future is down there, I'm not trapped anymore, perhaps in time I can begin to appreciate the moon for it's beauty again, rather than it be a sour reminder of times long past and fights fought long ago"

She smiled at Discord, this had allowed her to see him in a totally different light, he had been reformed, yes, but this allowed her to see him as a friend who truly understood her, who truly understood how to cheer her up, and knew exactly what to say

"Thank you, Discord, I feel like, as little as that demonstration was, it's made me realise it is never too late for me to put the past in the past and to start again, so to speak. I feel like a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders, a weight I didn't really understand I was carrying until now. And I would never have been able to face that if you hadn't brought me here to do it, I wanted to avoid this place as much as I could, for as long as I could, just raise the moon into the sky and continue life as normal, well, as normal as life for the princess of the night gets"

She chuckled at the last part of that, again looking out

"You know, now I'm not seeing this place as a prison-like grey expanse, there really is something calmingly beautiful about some aspects of this place that I never could appreciate before, because as I said it was my prison, my exile, but now, just like that I feel as though I've moved on, and I'm ready to start seeing this place, and hopefully a lot of other things in a new light"

Discord just smiled as Luna expressed her gratitude and understanding at his actions, although he lost that same smile around half way through what Luna was saying, it was funny really, if not in a slightly tedious way. He swirled his finger around in a way that said 'get on with it' although he did it with the fluff on the end of his tail in the form of a hand as to not upset Luna. Once she was done, he chucked slightly.

"You ponies love explaining things don't you?" He smiled, making her know he was only light heatedly joking "I'm not so interested in explanations myself, I prefer to let what is be..although maybe I should work on some sort of Pony mind meld to make explanations quicker?" Discord laughed, floating back into the air and sailing around a bit.

"Hey, watch this, It'll make Twilight's head explode" Discord said with a smirk, looking down at Luna as he floated in the air.

With a click of his finger, all the craters in front of them swapped place and reformed on the lunar landscape. The Moon from their angle looked relatively similar, albeit in a different pattern, it was kind of weird, as if all the trees in a forest changed placed. Discord then clicked his fingers, and a magical screen popped up in front of Luna, little magical sparks shooting out slightly when it appeared. The screen was cloudy at the moment, showing nothing while Discord lowered back down to the ground next to Luna, looking at her with a smirk before turning his attention to the screen.

The cloudy smoke effect on the screen slowly faded, revealing a view of the moon on which they stood from the perspective of someone stood in Equestria. What Luna saw would either make her laugh or make her slightly mad. Discord had rearranged the craters to make a picture of Discord's smiling face, with the dark parks making up the details of his face, leaving the light parts to fill in the rest. It was similar to the silhouette that used to be there when Luna was imprisoned on the moon as Nightmare Moon. In the distance the pair would hear a screaming princess, how the sound had traveled through space was anyone's guess, but it was clear that Twilight had seen it. Discord turned to face Luna as the screen disappeared, chuckling to her with a sheepish grin.

"I always missed the little picture on the moon after you were free, I figured if you aren't using the space anymore.." Discord stifled a laugh, snickering slightly.

Luna watched as the landscape shifted, very unsure of what was happening to her moon. Her queries were soon answered when Discord showed her that his face was now on the moon in the place of the missing mare in the moon. At first she didn't know how to respond to the situation, at all, but given a few seconds to take it in she found it rather amusing and a light-hearted gesture in her eyes. It, somewhat shockingly put a smile on her face

"Discord... Did you just?"

She started, before feeling like she had answered her own question in her head

"...Well, it certainly replaces the mare in the moon, gives the ponies down there something to look at, I like it, however the reaction to watch will be that of my sister, or anyone that might mistake it for something... malicious I suppose"

She genuinely did like what he had done, it made the moon more interesting, she was considering how the others down in Equestria might react, but then again, surely the lack of something up there was more alarming to them in the first place.

The whole experience of being here had been odd for Luna, she should, in her head be sad, but Discord had turned that around, she no longer felt the discomfort of being back on the moon where she knew she was to never go again, or so she told herself, to protect her own feelings if anything.

Luna, once again stood in quiet reflection, thinking about where they were, how they had got there, and what it meant for both of them and she was happy. She turned to Discord and said

"I thought no one would convince me to ever come back here… let alone have me be happy whilst here, you've helped more than you know, Discord, so Thank you, I must say, because no one else has actually been able to do for me what you have. Forgive me for saying as plain as this, but I am surprised such help came from you, as in the past we have had our feud, you have returned, initially with a heart set on chaos, and in the end I have made a friend"

Discord smiled as he looked over the lunar landscape, hands on hips with pride as he looked over his work, however Discord knew that it couldn't stay. This kind of thing may have been fun, but he had learned that imposing this kind of thing on all the ponies of the world was taking his comedy too far, it wasn't funny to them. So with a little click of his fingers the moons landscape quickly returned to its normal un-artistic self, boring yet classic, Discord could get used to that. He turned back to face Luna as she spoke, nodding in agreement, hopefully the sun princess hadn't seen his little prank, better yet maybe a guard told her, yet when she looked it was gone, that would have been funny to see.

"well Luna maybe it's tim-"

Discord stopped speaking as Luna began, not realizing that she had more to say, quickly shutting himself up to allow her to speak. All jokes and preferences oh what was said aside, Discord was genuinely happy to have helped the princess of the night get over her fear of this place, it didn't seem right that the princess who had a holiday of fear around her was afraid of something as the moon.

"Well my dear, if you think about it, old enemies helping each other in such a way...seems pretty chaotic to me" he giggled "Maybe its time we departed from here, would you do the honours of taking us from here? I think you are about due an opportunity to leave this place, returning to the world that now loves you" he smiled, looking back up to the distant plant.

Luna smiled, she appreciated what Discord was meaning to do by letting her begin the process of leaving her former prison. She shut her eyes, and in an instant they were back in equestira with a *Pop*, and there they were on Luna's balcony, facing up to the moon, rather poetic it would seem.

She then wanted to make sure that it wasn't as if she had ignored what Discord had said

"I suppose it is chaotic in its own way, but it also shows a gap that has been bridged with common feelings of putting the past behind us, the hypocrisy being I couldn't, until now, because you've helped me through it, I suppose I saw moving on as a much harder task that it was, out of refusal to return to the scene of the crime as it were, but being faced every night with it"

She paused for a while in a kind of quiet reflection, just taking in the moment of what felt like a deep resolution of some problems within herself

"I know I've said it a lot, but thank you Discord, you don't know the peace this has given me, just to be able to let go of it all, to just let it pass, a weight removed from my shoulders... you know, I've spent so many nights on my own on this balcony thinking about this, about how I would get over it, how I ever could, and here I am, at the back of it, feeling, emotionally almost like it never happened to me, aside from it maturing me greatly, and teaching me not to act out of envy and jealousy, I've learned something from you, in a way, that you seem to be able to let it go, and as such I have also."

The night had become rather still, it was clear everyone was now in bed and it became clear that they had been gone longer than first thought, as it wouldn't be long until the sun was to rise

"My sister will wake up soon and the night will be over, but for the remainder of the night, is there anywhere you want to go? We've faced my past, is there anything you'd want to face, that possibly I can help you with to return the favour as it were?"

Discord flew around at a break neck speed in a random pattern, showing his appreciation to be back on the world, by...flying above it. He flew up into the air, only to float up in front of the balcony to smile at Luna. He got a little smirk as she once again began speaking and explaining everything that was going through her head, the weird thing was that it didn't even seem like she liked the sound of her own voice, but maybe she simply thought that others liked the sound of her voice? Whatever the reason may have been, he had to remember to not do something overly big for Luna again, or she might explain every solitary thought she had on it after the fact, or if he did do something he would make sure to leave before she could say something.

Shaking his had and raising his hand with his palm to Luna in a sort of 'stop' gesture in response to if there was anything more they should do that night, Discord had done his part this night, he had done enough for now, and frankly the guards were so on edge that it just wouldn't be as funny as if they were completely unawares.

"No my dear I believe this night has run it's course, You should prepare for bed and lower the moon, while I...frankly I don't know what, but I'm sure I'll find something."

With a bow (that was at a complete 90 degree straight edged angle, Discord smiled at Luna before clicking his fingers and disappearing in a puff of bubble gum smelling smoke, leaving the princess of the night left on the balcony alone, with her thoughts.

As Discord disappeared, Luna couldn't help but feel a little sad it was all over, but at the same time she was happy that she now had someone else to call a friend, and that this night had opened up a whole lot of opportunities for the two of them to interact in the future, she never in a million years thought she would see the day that she could call Discord her friend.

He was right, however, the sun was going to be raised soon, and the moon won't lower itself, with a happy sigh Luna took off to lower the moon, musing to herself

"What a night that was..."

One thing was certain, she wasn't going to look at it the same way again. Her perception had changed for the better and things looked a lot more optimistic now.

During her time lowering the moon and watching the sun rise up, she thought to herself more about the night that had passed, and in happy, quiet reflection headed for the bedroom, where she would rest knowing she had made a good night out of what would have been one night like any other, and she hoped to see Discord, her new found friend again very soon. She very quickly settled into bed, resting her head on the soft bedding, knowing she would spend the night thinking and dreaming about spending more nights with her new friend.
