Nightfall looked up to the forest and frowned in silence while the rest of the ponies around her tensed up. Lightning Heart seemed more confused then anything. She sighed and pushed him aside with a hoof before trotting up in front of her forces. The name meant nothing to her, but the fact that the creature spoke in their language was something to appreciate. She stopped just in front of the veteran she had blocking Lightning, and glanced behind her, "Keep your weapons ready, soldiers. If it comes to it; attack on my order. Not a second before!" she snapped at them before turning back to the mare in front of her. It would be an interesting night.
With her hooves planted firmly on the ground, she looked up at the mare and called out, "Captain Nightfall of the Royal Lunar Guard. I am the commanding officer of this outpost. What reason do you have for coming to this place?" With the volume that she used, there was no real way that it could possibly sound polite. But it sounded formal, and rang with the command and authority of her position. It wasn't just Nightfall speaking, it was the Captain speaking; the officer who was protective of her soldiers. The mare represented a threat to those who worked with her, and she was going to deal with that problem the best she could, with minimum casualties.
Longshot took a moment to hit Lightning in the head as hard as he could, with a blazing glare painted on his face. While the hit was certainly hard enough to stumble Lightning to the side, the sharpness of the pain managed to snap his brain back to reality. It took a few moments of confusion for him to realize that something was wrong even before he turned around to see what everypony was looking at. Having no weapon, Lightning panicked, and quickly bolted inside the building where he felt safest. Nightfall couldn't really complain. He had been compromised before, and she didn't want to risk him endangering the rest of her ponies.
Lightning sprinted inside, and up the stairs to the officer's room. Not even stopping for the door, he slammed into it and stumbled inside, sprawling out on the ground. He quickly composed himself and picked himself up, turning to see Effervescence. He gave an embarrassed smile, then hurriedly made his way past him without asking any questions as to who he was or why he was there. Instead, he made himself seem as calm as possible, and walked up the stairs to the roof as hurriedly as he could without running. At least on the roof, he could watch what happened without being close to the mare that had played his brain like an instrument.
