Watching a unicorn try to stand on a cloud was definitely amusing, but Myriad had allowed herself to get a little too enthusiastic about the whole situation. If her mother had been here, she would have quashed the rambunctiousness right out of the little foal before it even began. However, the gray filly was now dealing with the consequences of not controlling her own playfulness and now having expended all of her energy. As per usual, it would take a while for her to get back up to speed. Thankfully the chemist pegasus seemed to notice her dilemma and asked if she was alright. Of course with her lungs being in pain, all she could manage to mutter was weak, "Mmmhmm." as she attempted to sugar coat the situation by making it seem like she wasn't as bad off as she really was.
Thankfully, the cloud she was perched on was moved underneath the tree where she could be in the shade. While it was definitely nice and cool here, she was still overheated and struggling a bit to breathe. It was about this time where she started mentally bucking herself for having wandered off so far from her mother and sister and their little picnic. If she was closer, she could be sucking down a juice box right about now, or munching on a cucumber sandwich. Certainly enough time had passed for her mother to have set up the blanket and goodies by now right? Of course, the moment Myriad thought it, she also saw it. She noticed the familiar shape of her mother flying overhead as the curious cloud cover caught yet another passerby's attention. Swooping down, the pegasus mare questioned the unicorn and the pegasus. "Have either of you seen a pale gray pegasus filly trotting around here?" she questioned. Being unable to see her daughter underneath the tree from the air, asking around was her first course of action. Of course she had asked the right ponies as she quickly found her daughter, atop a strange cloud, underneath a tree.
"Good grief child, you almost gave me a heart attack!" Picture Perfect exclaimed as she approached her filly, although she quickly assessed the situation and figured out exactly what was going on. "You met some pony new I see." The pegasus mare stated bluntly as she landed on the cloud to place a hoof on Myriad's forehead to gauge her temperature.
"Yup." was the filly's answer, short and sweet.
"Got over excited?"
"Yup"
"Hurts to breathe?"
"Yup"
"Ready to come back?"
"Nope."
Of course that wasn't the answer Picture Perfect was looking for, so her response came with a raised brow. "What's so important that you can't come have lunch?"
"Clouds. Chemist. Berries. Sweets." was the foal's reply, pausing for a breath after every word as well as pointing a hoof to the cloud, then Cloud Drop, then the berries on the tree, then to Sweet Supreme in turn as she said each individual word. Cryptic though her sentence had been, her mother still got the gist of it.
"You're the one who begged for this picnic. Are you telling me you don't want it anymore?" Picture Perfect asked of her daughter.
"I want a cucumber sandwich." was the foal's quick reply, her breathing gradually getting better as the conversation forced her to breathe normally. "Uhm, please?" she added, trying not to sound too demanding, even though she really was, adding in her trademark puppy dog eyes and quivering lip.
One could tell this was a difficult decision for the over protective mother to make. On the one hoof she wanted to keep Myriad close enough to be able to look after her and make sure she didn't get sick, but on the other she knew the spunky little filly just couldn't sit still to save her life. Eventually she caved and left to go get the sandwich as well as something cold for Myriad to drink to help bring her temperature back down.
