[Dark Star]

After a short "parental" moment, Dark Star got back to her breakfast in peace. She certainly knew that Slipstream's cooking was improving with how well she did on the eggs. The apple slices and everything else she had prepared looked as if a lot of time had been put into them. If astronomy somehow didn't work out, she seemed to have a very promising role in teaching cooking classes. Of course, the same could also be said for teaching housework and home-making skills, but that would be another moment for another time. Right now, Dark Star found Silver asking her the question that should've been made obvious to every-pony by now; the curious fact that she was wide awake, despite being awake all night. Her nocturnal instinct made it so she couldn't sleep a wink the night prior, but she had managed to catch a few Zs the day before. 

Slipstream shot the stallion a smirk when he asked if Dark Star had gotten any sleep last night. Out of any-pony she knew, Slipstream easily had the dirtiest mind. "I wasn't thinking anything" Slipstream said in her usual, sly tone. Dark Star gave the younger mare a scowl and thought about her next answer. She didn't want to tell Silver how tired she was, but she couldn't just deprive herself of sleep either. Quite the problem for her to find an answer for, but she could probably find a way. "I admit, I didn't sleep at all yesterday, much less last night, but I did it entirely of my own volition. I don't want you to feel bad for keeping me up all night, but I certainly didn't want to ruin my sleep cycle by sleeping during my most active time of day, so I just stayed up and watched you sleep. The face you make when you sleep is also adorable, so it was just another advantage" she stated a littler gingerly. "Creepy stalker-type girlfriend" Slipstream stated in a sing-song tone voice as she casually sipped some juice. Dark Star shot her another scowl and then turned back to Silver. "You don't think I'm like that, do you?" she asked somberly. 

[Toast]

Regardless how some ponies might react to hearing being watched all night. Silver couldn't have been more touched. Although he was mixed with the minor guilt of having be awake the previous evening and now the current morning. As well as Dark spending having to spend her entire 'day' being in bed. He did think about what it was going to be like dating a nocturnal pony, though he was sure they would find the time, besides her potion would come in handy.

"Creepy stalker-type girlfriend"

Sliver had a feeling that Slipstream was just gonna have to make a comment on that. But he wouldn't call that type of behaviour creepy, obsessive, or anything like that. And even if it was, well, maybe he kinda liked that. Sure, that was probably an odd thing to be attracted to, but to him it was kind of an endearing quality. He felt like if Dark was asleep all day in his bed he would probably spend a large portion or time just laying beside her. Watching her rest peacefully or listening to the soft sound of her breath. He knew that this was just Slipstream, once again, doing her best to get under both of their skin.

"You don't think I'm like that, do you?"

Apparently it was working.

"Of course not Dark." He says, looking at her with a sympathetic smile. "In fact I think it's quite sweet." Leaning over Silver gives her a quick but sensual kiss on the kiss on the cheek. As he does his eyes quickly glance towards Slipstream, with a difficult to notice but devious smile on the face. Silver didn't know how Dark would handle a public display of affection in front of Slipstream. But what he was more interested in was how Slipstream would handle it. He still owed Slipstream in a good way for all her help earlier, but he also owed her for all the frustrations he caused him, and Dark to for that matter. And although for all he knew Slipstream might be happy about Dark being in a relationship. There was still a chance that she might get jealous over seeing the affections of her best friend and the new pony in her life. One that she might end up spending more time with then her.

[Dark Star]

Dark Star felt several leagues better once Silver had set the record straight. Rather than find it creepy or unnerving, he found her watching him to be sweet. Once again, this stallion had managed to make her heart flutter, and she loved the feeling with a brilliant passion. Almost immediately after saying how sweet her actions proved to be, silver made another bold move on her by planting a kiss on her cheek. Not too extreme, but nothing too subtle that it couldn't be noticed. Almost exactly like what she'd seen of his coat. Just another thing she had already come to love about Silver. 

Slipstream's eye twitched in addition to an agitated scowl the second she noticed the smug grin Silver shot her after kissing Dark Star. He was deliberately challenging her now, not only for Dark Star's attention, but also for her affection as well. Neither sat right with the green-maned mare, and even if Silver owed her, it didn't matter. Still, after everything that she had done for him, he certainly didn't have to act so pretentious. A thought suddenly formed in her mind, and quite the devious one at that. 'So he wants to play in the lion's den, does he?' Slipstream thought as she lowered her eye-lids and smiled seductively. "On the cheek, really. I mean, seriously, is this for your granny or something?" she asked as she got up and walked over to Dark Star. "Slipstream, what are you-" Dark Star tried to ask before Slipstream suddenly attacked her with her lips, wrapping her fore-legs around the latter's back. Slipstream swiveled her tongue back and forth inside of the older mare's mouth, making certain to use every trick she new to please her while doing so. Dark Star wanted to protest at first, but couldn't find the strength to do so after a bit. Slowly, against her will, she submitted. 

After her bit of tongue wrestling was over, Slipstream broke the kiss and glanced over at Silver, a satisfied grin creeping right across her muzzle without so much as a speck of regret in it. "That's how you kiss a girl" she stated before turned her back and sharply whipping her tail close to his muzzle. She started heading for the door when she spoke up again, her voice full of confidence as she spoke. "If you'll excuse me, I'm going out for a flight. I need to cool my head off after that little..." she turned back and smirked at Silver "hot flash" she finished as she slammed the door shut, making her exit known.

Dark Star had a massively-flushed expression after the ordeal, not even being able to face Silver after any of that. Slipstream didn't seem to like what Silver did one bit, but there was definitely something else going on here. Gathering up her courage, she turned to face Silver with an inquisitive look on her face. "Silver, Slipstream never would've done that unless she had a good reason. You didn't...do anything to provoke her, did you?" she asked with a bit of accusation in her voice. She couldn't discount Silver's innocence during the whole ordeal, that much was certain. It wasn't like she didn't rust him, it's just that she knew Slipstream better than even the latter's parents did, so she could easily notice when something was up. She stared Silver down and looked at him with a glare Slipstream was all too familiar with; the glare an upset mother would give her foals when she needed them to tell the truth. 

[Toast]

Silvers jaw hit the ground. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Even outta Slipstream this was extreme. Silver knew right then and there he would never be able to get one up over this pony. He would never be able to oppose, challenge, prank, best, nor beat her. Not when she had the ability to pull stunts Silver knew he couldn't match.



When Slipstream finally takes her leave Silver simply looks forward at the wall, a dumbfounded expression on his face. Slipstream really cared about dark. I mean really, REALLY cared. But there was just a little something in all that, that Silver took notice of. It had taken so little to set Slipstream off, and he wondered if he was sensing vulnerability looming.



Dark eventually broke the tension by addressing Silvers actions. He knew he had to be honest here. He had already done two things out of character today, and if he didn't fess up he was going to get a worse scolding then if he tried to lie.



"Well, maybe a little, yes." he said while looking down and covering both his eyes with his hooves.

"But, I certainly didn't expect that reaction." He says still in the same position. Out of instinct He wanted to defend himself, saying something dumb like 'she was asking for it', but dark probably wouldn't but any of that.



Finally he turns back to Dark, his ear flat on his head. "I'm sorry Dark, I was being childish, it wasn't fair to her or you, and for that I apologise." Despite everything that happened Silver felt liked he owed Slipstream even more now, and it wasn't going to be easy to get her back on his side now. "And I promise, I'll make peace with Slipstream." Silver paused and looked back down at his remained food, he had lost his appetite somewhere during that whole escapade.



But there was still one question Silver needed to know the answer too. "Dark, there is something that's been bugging me." He says looking at his food sombrely. "But, Why is it that Slipstream lives with you and not at home with her family?" His question was something that made his curious since he first found out about it. It was odd for a pony to move in with someone they have only known for a day. He wondered if maybe her family life was rough, and maybe that's why dark Star was so important to her.

[Dark Star]

As expected, Silver seemed very repentant over his course of actions, fully admitting that he had antagonized Slipstream, but didn't expect what she would do in response. It made Dark Star feel a little better about Slipstream's actions, but she still felt as though the two ponies needed to to make up if they were expected to live together some day. Luckily for her, Silver was willing to and even promised that he would make peace with the young mare, softening her expression. "I'm glad that you feel that way, Dear, I'm certain Slipstream will be willing to accept your friendship if it's for my sake, though an apology would definitely help too" she stated warmly. 

After the small moment, Silver took the chance to question why Slipstream was living with her in the first place. A decent question, all things considered. "Well, she came to me the day after and forced herself in. I was about to chew her out for doing something like that until I stepped upon a note that her parents left. From what Slipstream told them, I kept a better eye on Slipstream and even took care of her better than they could. I did a little investigating and found out that Slipstream's parents were actually really crummy at raising her, hence why she's such a rough-housing mustang, so they just knew that I'd be able to take care of her better, at least until she managed to settle the rest of her life out. You should've seen her when we first met though, she was incredibly wild, usually getting into fights over the smallest things. I think that I might've been able to mellow her out over the time we've spent together" she explained with a dreamily-wistful expression. 

She stretched her legs out and yawned, her eyes taking on a much darker tint. "I need to go and sleep now, though I'm certain you'll be able to handle the rest from here. To find Slipstream, you simply need to look up from the house's front door, She almost always stays on a cloud just above when she's upset. Just yell up to her to get attention, and if that doesn't work, use your magic to bring down the cloud she's on. Just don't do anything that might make her angrier, be friendly and she'll be friendly in return" she explained in her usual scholarly voice before trotting over to the stairs. She gave him one last smile before heading upstairs and hitting the hay. 

[Toast]

Silver winces Slightly at hearing Slipstream had crummy parents, it was the answer he thought he might hear but dreaded none the less. The truth was becoming more clear to him now. Dark most likely wasn't just a friend to her, she was her safety net. A mother, sister, companion, and guardian all wrapped up into one. Most importantly, Dark was her family. And here he was, some new intruder, like a creepy step-dad acting like he was trying to steal Dark away. Silver sighed, feeling even more dismal about the situation than before. But before he could respond to Dark or ask any more questions Dark Star decided it was time for her to get some shut eye. Silver Just smiled sadly at her, his ears still flat on his head as Dark gave him some last minute advice on how to fix this.



"Aright, have a good night's rest.... Days rest." He says as she leaves. Alright, it was time for action now, no more wasting time feeling bad. Silver knew a simply apology wouldn't cut it, he had to make a more meaningful gesture. Getting up from the table with his new found motivation Silver got ready to head out, but quickly cleared the table and put the dishes in the sink before he left, mostly out of habit.


Once ready Silver quietly exited out the front door, the direct sunlight hitting his coat felt wonderful. He glanced around the sky immediately for any signs of the pony he was looking for, only to noticed what looked to be her on a cloud not far off. Luckily she wasn't facing his direciton,and hadn't notice him leave the house yet. Prefect for Silver, he needed a little more time to come up with something. He tapped a hoof to his chin for a moment before in a wave of brilliance it came to him, the faintest memory of a poster he saw back in the alleyway they went through. "That's perfect." He though joyously. He would have to be quick though and get back before she flew away. So as fast as he could Silver began to gallop away in the opposite direction from Slipstream, with the two stops he had to make on his mind.

Silver was on his back towards Slipstream about twenty minutes later. He was still galloping but when he saw her in the distance he began to slow down. The only difference between him now and twenty minutes earlier, was the brown paper bag he was levitating in front of him. As he finally trotted up to the cloud Silver looks up and shouts. "Hey! Slipstream! Come down here for a second would you!"

[Dark Star]

Just as described earlier, Slipstream was lying down on a cloud just a ways up from the house. She was lying down on her back with her fore-hooves crossed behind her head and one hind-leg crossed over the other, her tail repeatedly whipping the side of the cloud as she tried to calm down. "Stupid Silver, stupid Bright-Eyes falling head-over-hooves for him, the guy was just directly challenging me, and after everything I've done for him" and the likes she muttered in her feat in anger. She knew that he was probably just trying to ruffle her feathers-which he did-but she couldn't just let him get away with it. She would've ranted more, but she could hear the sound of some-pony galloping just below her. The pony in question was-of course-Silver, whom of which yelled up to her. 

Slipstream turned onto her stomach and flapped her wings skyward, the resulting force moving the cloud into a slow descent. She crossed one of her fore-legs over the other as the cloud moved to just above the ground below. Slipstream merely kept a neutral expression in order to get things rolling. She wasn't as mad at him as she was earlier, but she was relatively mad nonetheless. Her tail whipped occasionally, as her wings also flapped about to keep herself from floating away. She looked at Silver with a bored facial expression, clearly not wanting to talk to him. The only thing was, she had listen. It was just something she had to get over with. With a short sigh, she eventually asked "What?" in a rough tone. 

[Toast]

Silver hovered the bag in front of her face. "Peace offering?" He said in a hopeful tone. He moved bedside the cloud and sat down on his haunches, the two of them now facing the same direction.

"Slipstream, I've been a jerk. After all your help yesterday, and practically saving my life.. possibly twice.. I haven't really treated you fairly." Silver smiled while he spoke, and all his words sounded his genuine. In fact Silver sure had some mad apologizing skills. Although it was a skill he wished he didn't have to use much. With his magic he opened the bag to reveal two large incredibly delicious looking doughnuts. With tons of frosting and sprinkles on top and stuffed with a delectable cream in the centre. He levitated the larger of the two for Slipstream to grab. There was still something left in the bag, but Silver hoped Slipstream wouldn't notice quite yet. "I owe you a lot. You did more for me than the average friend would and we hardly know each other. I mean you helped me with those kids, you help me with Dark." She had even given them privacy, slept on the couch, and cooked him breakfast.

"The point is that I'm sorry, I shouldn't have tried to antagonize like I did." After that He couldn't help but hold a hoof near his while chuckling through his teeth.
"But well, you sure showed me." He says. "You got a lot of spirit Slipstream. And I respect that." There, that word 'respect'. Silver hadn't said it intentionally, it just sorta came out. It might mean a lot to Slipstream to hear that, it might not. But she was the youngest out of the three of them. And it was often the youngest in a group that craved recognition from the oldest. So perhaps knowing she had his respect would be important. However he still wasn't done with his apologies yet.

"And I'm sorry for yesterday too, you were just trying to be my friend and I shot you down."

"Multiple time." He thinks.

"If I had known just how good of a pony you were, I wouldn't have been so selfish." He shot her a sympathetic smile while looking at her from out of the corner of his eyes. On the inside he felt a wave a relief too. He laid all his mistakes out on the line. Now all he could do was hope that Slipstream would accept him.

[Dark Star]

Slipstream was certainly in no mood to listen to anything Silver had to say. His intrusion upon her life had left her in a state of annoyance and betrayal. The only reason she listened at all was because there was no way she'd be left alone later. She was offered a large doughnut, which she accepted gratefully, and listened to him apologize. He apologized about antagonizing her, he apologized about shooting down her offer to fly out yesterday, he just kept on apologizing. Slipstream wouldn't admit it, but she was a sucker for a nice guy who knew when he was wrong. Her expression softened as she quietly ate the doughnut, loving the cream-filled center. Eventually, he stopped and shot her a smile that practically begged for forgiveness, making her heart skip a beat. 

Leaning her head down in the cloud-hiding her blush-she spoke to him in her usual tone. "Well, I guess since you learned your lesson and all, I can forgive you. Just don't do anything like that again, kay?" she stated with a small stretch of her wings. After it, she stood up and hopped off the cloud, bucking it away in an arbitrary direction. She looked back at him with her usual look of determination, still keeping her smile. That's about the time she noticed he still had that bag with him. It seemed a little curious as to why he didn't take the remaining content out just yet, so she gave the situation a bite. "Hey, what's up with that bag, it sounds like something's still in it?" she asked. 

[Toast]

Well, it looked like Silver had succeeded. The two had more or less patched things up. Still, it wasn't the acceptance he had been hoping for, it had an 'i guess' in it and ended in a threat. But it would be enough for now, and he still had once ace left up his sleeve to hopefully get Slipstream to really like him. Speaking of Which.

"Hey, what's up with that bag, it sounds like something's still in it?"

Smiling Silver rolled his eyes. He would never be able to get one over on this pony. Honesty, he figured right there that it would be best to stop ever stop trying. Who knows, maybe I the future Slipstream would be up being that friend he would confide secrets too, since he couldn't keep one from her anyway.

"Well, I was gonna hold onto it until the right moment but.." He trailed off to use his magic, opening the bag and taking out two tickets with the big words 'WonderBolts' written across them in flashy letters. "They're coming into town in a few days, and I don't know if you're a fan but and I've seen them a few times and I enjoyed it" He says. Silver levitated the tickets over to Slipstream. The seats were side by side, front row center, the exact spot that the WonderBolts would fly by so close you could almost feel the tips of their wings on your face. But that wasn't all. On the bottom there was even a little asterisk that read '*w/autograph & meet and greet.' Which ended up costing him a few bits.

Lifting up and hoof and shaking it in front of Slipstream Silver continued. "And the second one wasn't intended for me. You can take a friend, take Dark, you can even scalp it for all I care, it's yours." Most ponies loved WonderBolt shows, but Silver couldn't help but feel a little nervous about it. He wanted to do something nice for Slipstream and not just to apologize either. When was the last time somepony did something nice for her just because? Her crummy parents probably never took her to see any shows. And Dark was probably asleep most days to take her out for some fun.

[Dark Star]

Slipstream certainly got her wish as Silver emptied the remainder of the bag. It turned out to be two tickets to see the local Wonderbolts show coming to town in just a few days, even having a special meet & greet pass after the show. Slipstream considered glaring a few daggers at him for blowing it like that, but instead, she decided to handle things calmly, with a scoff and a flick of her tail. "Who'd be crazy enough to wanna see those wannabe-flyers?" she said, clearly annoyed. She flicked the tickets back to him in a huff and continued. "Seriously, those losers are supposed to be the best fliers in Equestria, but all they've done is completely fail the princesses and the rest of the country more than twice already, and I was there to even see one of 'em" she stated.

"It was the young flyer's competition in Cloudsadale, I wasn't competing-simply because I didn't have to-but I saw them when they tried and failed to save a unicorn with magically-created wings plummet towards the ground when she burned up like Icarus. Without even trying, she managed to knock out all 3 of them, and they were supposed to be the highest-ranked fliers and even the captain. After that, there was the time where a giant dragon was rampaging throughout Ponyville where instead of subduing him, the "blunderbolts" wound up trapped inside a water tower. It's just pathetic how they can still call themselves the protectors of Equestria when they can't even succeed in any of the missions the princess gave them. I could fly circles around them with my eyes closed and with one wing tied down, they're just that bad!" she huffed. Never had she needed to explain anything in such a harsh tone, but every word of it was true. She never actually hated any-pony before, but these were the ponies that she hated the most.

Taking a deep breath, she calmed down and looked at Silver with a much softer expression. "Sorry ya had ta waste your bits, but it's not all bad. I bet ya can probably take Bright-Eyes with ya ta see those wannabes, but don't expect me to be there unless you wanna see how a real pegasus gets the job done" she said seriously, a tone very unfitting of Slipstream. Her wings had been flared out the entire rant and she had just noticed it herself, so she tucked her wings back in and stomped down onto the snowy ground below. "It's nice of ya and all, but there's just no way I'd ever see those wannabes do anything unless they're getting fired" she ultimately said with one final sigh.

After that, Slipstream felt her body grow lighter, a warm feeling resonating from her chest. All of a sudden, she felt fantastic! She spread her wings and took off straight-skyward, leaving a large gust of wind in her wake that stirred up the snow wildly. She soared through the air as majestically as she could for a good few minutes before touching back down on the ground with a thud. "I feel great now for some reason. Guess it just feels good to get that off my chest or something. Thanks for hearing me out Sil-" she stopped once she realized the snow had built up around Silver's body, apparently from her abrust ascent. "Oops" she said gingerly with a small giggle.

[Toast]

"Who'd be crazy enough to wanna see those wannabe-flyers?"

Silvers entire body slunk down about an inch "OH COME ON!" He thought in his head. His mouth hung open slightly, he had a look of both exhaustion and disappointment on his face. What was he gonna have to do to make this pony happy with him. At the moment he couldn't catch a break. He thought it was such a good gift too. While Slipstream explains herself Silver straightened himself out.

"Well at least she has her reasons." He thought. Her story did bum him out somewhat though. He kinda liked the WonderBolts. Maybe if he and seen the same things Slipstream had he would have a different opinion, so now he felt somewhat let down.

After that she apologizes for him having to spend his money. "No, no, its fine." He says dryly. "I can probably get my bits back if I return them right away." He tried not to sound frustrated that his gift idea failed so hard. Even just having to say that made Silver feel like the entire gesture was ruined.

It was then that Slipstream took off, catching Silver by surprise and coving him in a thin layer of snow. When she finally came back down he just looked at her with an annoyed gaze. Silver loudly sighed. The two had picked up exactly where they left off, with her committing tiny acts of annoyances on him. Luckily Silver had learned his lesson from last time he shook it off the snow instead of trying to melt it. Any sow that was left he just used a hoof to push off. "Just glad to see your in a good mood now." He says smiling. Silver still felt like he had to do something for Slipstream. But it looked liked his instinct was off the mark. He would just have to ask. "Look, I still want to do something for you. So, what is it that you like to do?" He says smiling hopefully. "Seriously, I'll treat you to whatever it is, just say the word."

[Dark Star]

Slipstream could tell right away that she had managed to get on Silver's bad side. All was right in the universe now. Slipstream was happy-go-lucky and Silver wasted a ton of bits on a gift that the young mare didn't even want. To make things worse, he was covered in snow and looked like he couldn't be any more upset with the world, though Slipstream at least felt bad for it. She wanted to try and dust him off to repay him, though he had already shaken the layer off by the time she was about to offer. "I still think ya could probably get your money's worth if ya just took Bright-Eyes instead. She might find them interesting at least" she reminded calmly. She felt bad about him spending his bits, but she hoped he'd find her suggestion useful. 

That would probably have to wait for later though, since Silver decided to treat Slipstream to anything she wanted. Slipstream felt even worse now, so she got to thinking; What could the two of them do that was cheap, easy, and simple? That's when it hit her. "I got it!" she exclaimed with glee. She excitedly clapped her hooves together as she got to her explanation. "We could go for a stroll in the clouds! Bright-Eyes has a spellbook on the shelf with just the right spell you need ta do it too!" she explained as she reared up on her hind-legs and cycled her forelegs a few times. It was a brilliant idea in Slipstream's mind. She always felt best whenever she took the time to walk on the cloud-formed walkways, and she figured that it would help Silver loosen up a bit more, not be such an uptight Canterlot pony. She leaned in close, a wide smile across her muzzle, and waited for Silver to weigh in. 

[Toast]

At Slipstreams suggestion Silvers stomach did a flip and his pupils got slightly smaller. Did she not remember what happened yesterday during their little flight? It was a something Silver didn't really like admitting he was uncomfortable with, but none the less he couldn't help it, he just wasn't much of a fan of heights. Well it wasn't so much heights more than it was the fear of falling. Pegasus had wings, they could save themselves if anything went wrong, the sky was practically their playground, but Silver had no such advantage. And clouds weren't the most stable things in all of Equestria. They dissipated easily, broke up into different bits, and got pushed all around the sky by the wind. And she wanted him to walk on those things? "Why couldn't she just want to go bowling or to the spa or something." He thinks, although he doubted that Slipstream would be into anything like that.

"Ok, well you know that's one idea." He says rather quite quickly. Still, that stupid excited smile she was giving him made him know he had to do this to make her happy. And he did say he would do anything. "*Sigh* alright sure, could be fun." He says with meager enthusiasm and a weak smile . "But look you have to promise me." He points a hoof at her. "You won't do or let anything happen that would cause me to slip, fall, or otherwise have me end up as a pony sized pancake, alright?" Silver needed Slipstreams word if he was to trust her enough to do something like this. However he felt like even that wouldn't be any guarantee she might do something by accident. He waited for her promise before asking for the book so he could perform the spell.

[Dark Star]

Silver looked a little nervous about the thought of going up into the clouds. Not surprising, considering unicorns don't usually mix well with being airborne *cough-Rarity-cough*. After a little bit of time, he succumbed to Slipstream's cute look-or at least she thought he did-and agreed to go up. "Aw, yeah! This is gonna be awesome!" she cheered while hovering slightly. Her buzz was quickly off-centered though as Silver made her promise not to do anything to make him fall. She scoffed cheerfully and raised a hoof in a vowing manner. "I promise not ta do anything o' the sort" she stated with a smile still on her muzzle. 

With that settled, she flew back into the house and started searching through the bookcase, lighting up a candle to help her skim through the contents before she found it; the spell-book that Dark Star always read to keep her magical skills sharp. She brought the book back outside and offered it to Silver, eager to get him to find the spell, use it, and then they could move on. "Okay, the spell should be somewhere in one of the bookmarked sections.
